Other than widening out the holes no, no issues on the rebop. It was a little tight and required some slight massaging to fit the NS2000 but nothing major at all.

Sounds pretty good with DC's and the mm pre. Still take my dougie with the pump over it though.

I've read a few conflicting threads on this very topic. Some sources suggest that the pots on the Korean 9V preamp copy would need to be replaced with four pots of the correct (lower) values to work properly with low-impedance active EMG pickups.

Other sources suggest that you can simply replace the passive "Spector" pickups with the active EMG pickups and enjoy.

I'm no electrical engineer, but I read that the 9V USA preamp comes with different (lower value) pots than the Korean preamp, so I thought the pot value might be a real concern.

I would like to get some clarification on this.

This is correct as the USA 9volt is typically used in Spectors already sporting the active EMG's and thus has the correct pot values.

The Korean Haz copy was used in the NS2A, B and C series basses which all sported the passive EMG Select or EMG Spector pups (rough equivalent to the current EMG-SSD pups). So, of course, it has the correct pot values for the passives.

Using active pups is fine with the Korean Haz copy with one caveat: due to the higher pot values it can sound overly bright or thin at extreme knob settings. Keep everything flat or not too far from flat and you should be (relatively) fine.

The mightymite MM114 is an un-official copy of the Haz USA 9V circuit.

Then it should have the active pup pot values. Not real familiar with this circuit.

Yup, I have them (actives) in all my non US basses. Just have to splice for power for the pickups. The difference in value of the pots is "negotiable".

Man, funny that you posted that. I was debating what to do with some of my basses and had the idea of taking out the TonePump and TW pickups in my blue Euro5 and putting in EMG 40DC's and a BQC system. That video pretty much sealed the deal for me.

I'll put the TonePump and TW's in my Rebop since it has an older Tonepump without the trim pot and the EMG HZ's will come out.

The finish on that bass looks amazing though. I have always seen it in just pictures but it really looks great seeing it like that in the video.

I'm receiving a cherry burst NS-2A on Wednesday... to go with my white one.

I also picked up a used set of active EMG P/J with the BQC 3-band eq (for $85 total) and that'll go into one of the NS-2A basses.

I took Phat's advice on this. I have active EMGs with the Korean Haz copy in my NS-94 and I agree 100% with what he said above.

Because of the pot value differences,
it is overly bright at the extreme knob settings and
there is a bit of a strange mix as you adjust the volume of the bridge and neck PUPs. (It's almost like a on/off not a taper.)

But overall, it still sounds great and growls like mad.

Mightymite recommends using the MM114 with their active PUPs. So I assume it has active pot values.

I guess I didn't notice much difference in the pot values because I don't run the tones cranked. Just a little boost on each.

Agreed! I like the TP better than the Haz at the moment. Just my opinion though.

In other news....I got the gig with Winter Of Freedom!!!
I'm VERY excited! I took my Ampeg rig to our jam on Friday and there was thunder in the house! I am going to need to switch things up a bit for me, so my Euro is going to have to go back to BEAD tuning and I've talked to Sam and he suggested that I shoudl try and do the same with my Forte

I have to learn 10 tracks in total for the set list. They also have a new drummer so I'm not the only one learning the songs, which makes it a lot less stressful for me

...And, this gorgeous piece of lumber that goes by the name of NS-2 is scheduled to arrive to me on Tuesday!!!

CONGRATS SEVENTH!!! keep us informed on gigs/tours etc!

Not Spector related , but my drummer has in his possession at this time an all original in extremely good shape ampeg svt BLUE line head and matching 810 cab !!!!! Amp and cab were bought together and stayed together all this time . He's gonna let me do a show with it soon ! I'll give a report .

Drummer has great taste! You'll be flabergasted and jumping out of your gord wanting that rig after you play a gig on it. Haha! I'd love to try an Ampeg tubed amp sometime to compare to my PF-500 SD. To see if there's that much difference.

It's not his , but he is a great bass player also . He has a sun 300t tube head with a Mesa 210 and 215 . Also has a swr sm500 and Henry the 8x8 . Both awesome rigs . And now he is the proud owner of my cherry burst ns2a !!!!

Better watchout! He could be looking to take your place...

I don't get why people take the haz-copy out of the NS-2A's, I love em and put em in my basses.

I am with you guys on this. I pulled the original Haz copy from my NS2A replaced it with EMG then replaced that one too, finally put in a Tonepump with trim and haven't looked back just love the sound of the TP.
