The holoflash is different.
Not my thing either. But for a stage/performance guitar I think it would grab some attention. Which is the point.

The Rex is neck-thru the body and with the cutaway offers better neck access.

The circuit is better as well. I personally have come to really appreciate the Rex. The 4X is nice two, but the Rex being neck-thru, just seems a little more balanced to me.

I've never seen a European Price List for USA Spector Basses. I guess you're asking for a price list with conversions to the Euro? Or a price list with the going retail costs by distributor in Europe?

The best thing to do is go to the Spector site and look up the distributor for the European Country you are located in and contact them for their price list.

Spector sets retail pricing guidelines in US Dollars, but doesn't tell dealers what to charge. So on a country-by-country basis the prices can vary. In some cases with the exchange rates I understand the prices can be very different from location to location.

Lastly, if you can't get a satisfactory answer from your country's authorized distributor, you can always contact PJ Rubal at Spector. [email protected] He might be able to help you since all the distributors world-wide report to him.

I'm still recovering from yesterday. I was scheduled to meet with and shoot photos/video of a Spector Artist and 10 minutes before I had to leave a router in the co-location facility where I house my server fried and went down, taking my server and several others out with it.

So I cancelled and stayed on the phone/by my computer until about 5pm yesterday when everything was back up. It took them 5 hours to figure out if there had been any damage to my server. LOL. Luckily there hadn't been. So once the new router was in place, like nothing had happened, everything was back online.

But for a few hours I had no idea what I was dealing with. Meaning was I going to have to set up a new server and re-configure everything... etc... So there you go. Yesterday went a bad-way quickly. And by the time I was done yesterday I was dead tired.

So today I'm having to catch up on a bunch of stuff.

Thanks again for the compliment on SpectorCentral. As you can see, a lot went into the redesign. And from here I want the site to grow.

I have an 18volt bass, the headroom thing is nice but unusable for me in a live situation.

I hear ya man. My Forte 4 changed everything I THOUGHT I knew. Almost every bass I have (non Spector) has a Jazz type neck. I thought that's what I liked but once and got this Forte and it's baseball bat, honestly, heaven. When I pick up my other basses the neck feels like a toy. I am really, really digging the chunk. Much less hand fatigue for my big meat pawls.

My NS 2A has a pretty small neck but just not in a Jazz or EBMM Sterling type of way. I'm going to give it some time and let the honeymoon phase die down but all my "jazz necks" might be going bye bye.

Soooo, that leads me to this: Is the neck on the Rex this like the NS 2A's? I can live with that.

does anyone know if Spector will epoxy a fretless fret board from the factory??

I have a spot on HG Thor's list to do my EBMM, but I am thinking about selling it to finance a Spector US bolt on fretless. I'm sure he would just replace my info with the new fretless, but I was hoping not to have to wait the 3 years that he estimated.

So right here on this TB Spector Club, are some of the most knowledgeable Spector owners on Earth.

And I'd love to have you all contribute... in a couple of ways.

Sam has changed out the OBP-2 for the Haz, a couple of you have now with varying amounts of success.

I'd love an article about how to do this and what to look for, things that would help others do the same thing with more success.

I'm planning on sharing all the stuff I learned about NS-2A upgrades and changes.

Those of you with NS-2A models you've converted over to active pickups, if you wouldn't mind writing out the step-by-step instructions on how to do this.

ANY technical information we can share. I mean no offense to anyone else, but Phat is by far the most knowledgeable guy I know concerning the early Euro models... how to identify them... so if you wouldn't mind sharing some of your tips on knowing the difference between a transition model, etc...

All of these "articles" I want to list on the Tech Tips section. And you'll get the credit for writing it. Think of it as you'd be a contributing writer/tech expert.

I really do want SpectorCentral to be for owners and fans. And by owners/fans.

I'll also tell you, now you can see that the My Spector Story part of the site is growing, getting some really cool contributions, etc... I think all of you have great stories. Look at the 2.5 minute long Peter Smee story. Short and simple. And then you've got my story or Sam's part I & II stories which are longer. I don't care about the length or fancy editing or effects. That's not the point. Sharing your unique story and why you love Spector basses is. So please, those of you who can take the time to shoot a simple video and send it, please... I'd really love to add you to the site and share your story with others.

My goal is to eventually be able to cut them together into a full-feature-length documentary about Spectors and their unique place in guitar/music history.

You should probably just create something for the site and call it "Tech Corner with Sam" since he has pretty much done it all If it weren't for Sam, I probably would have spent several hundreds of dollars having techs work on my Spector's and I know he has spoken to many people on this board to try and help them with installs or troubleshooting issues they have.

Most places we play, won't require anything but me to turn my amp up or down (or up some more!). However, there could be some larger things on the horizon, and more outdoors stuff, that will probably require instruments to go to FOH as well. I have, in the past, mic'd my cab for this; my amp's DI is pretty hot according to some sound guys, and not in a sexy way. I'm wondering if a Radial JDX might be good for me. It connects between amp and cab, so it sends an amplified signal to FOH. What other options have you guys used?

I use the DI on my GK 700rb ii. It has a pre/post option, ground lift and output control. Sound guys love it.

I have heard good things about the Radial DI. If we have a good FOH tech then I prefer them to mix me out front. We have played where its all me, but I prefer FOH support, then I can eq my cab for the stage and not the room.

Always a "flat" DI signal and trust the sound guy not to screw that up. Maybe mic the cab in addition to the DI. Radial and Countryman make nice DI boxes. I go for a "standard" rock bass sound.

I've tried boxes that send the amped sound to the board. It sounds bad.

Bass and treb are 100k on the MM, I believe the vol is 25k and I'm not sure on the blend.

That makes sense as the MM is meant for actives. The blend is probably 25K also unless they've got some weird circuit going on.

On a slightly different note, for all you Forte owners out there....
The new band that I joined tunes low B, so until now I used a crappy Carvin 5 string so I can learn the songs and audition...(Not dissing Carvin, but the bass I used went out of tune constantly and the thing was a pain in the arse to play!)
Per Sam and Johns advice, I got a set of heavier gauge strings and put them on the Forte. The strings sit a tad high on the nut and I had to to a very minor raise to the bridge but overall it was almost a perfect fit!

We had a long jam last night and WOW, I know someone here has a Forte 5 so they know what I am talking about. Simply WOW! The tone was SO deep and growly, I had a smile on my face the entire jam!

I've been toying with the idea of tuning my Forte 4 BEAD. My Forte 5 arrives April. I really miss a fiver! That's awesome to hear that you love the BEAD tuning on your Forte 4. Before I sold my Kramer NS-2A I converted it to BEAD and it sounded awesome, big! Hmmm...
