Peledog, a few days after I found the cherry burst NS-2A which arrives tomorrow, I also found a nice deal on a ReBop 4DLX which may arrive by Friday.

I'm really interested in the difference in feel between the narrow string spacing/neck profile of the NS-2A and the full string spacing/larger profile of the ReBop.

I'll take some pics after I have all three together.

Now I really do need to sell a couple basses... hmm... eeny, meeny, miny, mo... a couple of my Non-Spector basses must go: )

Hello Spector peeps. I was hoping that you could help me. I'm trying to put a value to my Spector for insurance reasons and I'm not having any luck searching online. It is a 1985 NS-2JA 4 string bolt-on, gloss black. It has some wear but overall is in really good shape. I bought it new and still love the sound and playability even though it's not my main bass any more. Any idea what it might be worth on the open market? Thanks!

Lol I like it better live cuz I tend to play a little harder then, and the added headroom keeps it clean.

With the pump I think it changes it a bit too. Puts it somewhere in-between the haz and the obp. Clarity with bottom end and growl. All flavors are good though. Good reason to have one of each :)

I run one of my main outs from my preamp to a DI to foh. They way they get the same thing that's comming out of my cab, like you want to do. Sounded great, not sure what DI they used though. It was active looked like the radial (like a book) but was brown with white writing I think (stage lights and shots can make things look funky lol). I'm curious to what they were using because I thought it sounded good and would buy one.

If by NT Czech SPECTOR you mean the Euro LX's than yeah it's a real loud bass. Especially if your tone pump has the trim pot and it's up all the way. You have a beauty there BTW.

Not a REX or holoflash expert by any stretch since I've only owned my REX5 for a week or two. That said, if the only bass I had was a REX I'd go for the red quilt or possibly the black quilt since either of those will raise fewer eyebrows when you open the case or take the stage.
Fortunately I have a lot of other basses that are plenty traditional and run the gammit of gloss black, to 3 tone burst to clear coat and 5A died quilts and flamed maple so a holoflash actually sounded like a major departure from the norm for me and I love it. I've posted some pics below taken in normal practice room light (no stage lights and no camera flash) at various angles so you can see how the look of the bass is constantly changing in ambient home or studio type light.
I get more complements on this bass finish from non players than any other bass I own. It's always a converstion piece and does have flash, flair and plenty of depth in the finish. I've had quilted finishes that looked deeper on closer inspection but at 10 feet away those just look flat or patterned or monotone compared to this finish. I haven't had it on stage yet but I expect it to be an eye grabber.
The neck is thin, really really thin front to back for a 5 string. I'm about 6 foot tall and have relatively large hands (not spider monkey fingers, but very large palms and fat fingers). I can easily wrap my fret hand around the neck and touch thumb to index finger at the 18th fret on my REX5 vs the 16th fret on my '98 Warwick BO5 and the 14th fret on my MIA Fender Jazz 5 and the 13th fret on my Fender Precision 5. With the REX5 cutout it's an easy reach to the 21st to 24th fret. Also I did readjust my strap and now the bass hangs at a very comfortable 2:00 position with no neck dive at all.

Only problem will be finding a trans red Rex that isn't mine :) I've only seen one maybe two others .
