Just recorded something with my NS-2 to see how it sounds...
I was feeling the funk....and some Flamenco

Clean sound. Plugged direct into the Sound Interface. No EQ. Slight Compression. Bass EQ: Treb-full, Bass-full, Blend-mid.

I will have to get a HAZ for my Forte and Euro now. I may even get one for my car....

On a side note...flamenco on bass hurts thy nails much.

very nice. i still cant get down the slap thing very well. for some reason, i can hear in my head what i want to do, but my hands want to start doing the disco slapping

I own "several" LimaGuy sets of strings and they are all in great condition........ just saying

Cobalts will make those Fat Beams sound like Flats.

I have a custom set of 45-65-85-105-130 Cobalts reserved for the 5'er - use gonna give the Fat Beams a couple weeks first.

But I will be putting the stock 5-string Cobalt set on my SR5 HH very shortly.

have you played 66's before? if so, how do the cobalts compare?

Yes sir. I put those on my J basses for awhile. While the 66's are bright and zing they always wore out on me very fast. I do really like Rotosounds though.

Time will tell with the Cobalts but as for how long they last but they have more fundamental note/tone than the 66's. It's hard to explain but the Cobalt's are just BIG sounding. Big, bright and harmonically powerful tone IMO. They extra harmonics really work well with the Spector and growl factor.

Tension wise, what string set would you say is comparable to the Cobalts? They sound so good!

It's called Plum

Was a special order. I don't think many have been made in this color.

I asked my wife what fruit color she thinks this is and we both came to the same conclusion...Rassberry. Plum is purple. Haha

Tension wise, what string set would you say is comparable to the Cobalts? They sound so good!

I would say a bit tighter then Hi Beams. Not even close to being as tight as Lo Riders. I would say they are about the same as Pro Steels

I played my ReBop for a few hours today and got a much better appreciation for the non-trim pot Tone Pump. Compared with my initial impressions of my NS-2A basses, the ReBop seemed a little lacking at first. Turns out I just needed to spend some quality time with the ReBop.

Now the magic is starting to shine through and it is quickly gaining favor.

If anyone has a Euro 4LX or LX-TW they're thinking of selling please PM me the info.

I posted up my curly bubinga/flamed maple Warwick FNA Jazzman LTD to fund another Spector.

Wow...that looks like a curly Bubinga/flamed ReBop, if it wasn't for you saying its a Warwick. Beautiful bass.

Just saw this,

Appears to be a Q4 Pro hiding under the radar on ebay for a nice price so far.
The tuners were replaced.

Johnny April uses 5 string Legends in Staind. He tunes G#, C#, G#, C#, F#. His rig is massive but he even records with the Legends.... Depending what tone you are looking for (the CS-TW is very versatile) I would think you could get it out of the Legend. or get a Legend and upgrade to a tonepump and you I think you will really like the tone.

Down tuning is all about string tension, so that would be easily fixed

I agree...put a Tonepump in your legend and tune it to BEAD and replace the plastic nut with a brass nut. I own a legend 4 classic and it sounded like a different bass just replacing the nut. I've been thinking of replacing the Jr. TP with the full blown TP or the Haz. The Legend is awesome solid built bass. The quilted flame maple black cherry is gorgeous!!! It wowed me 3 years ago and still does today. That's the bass that sold me on Spectors! Good luck! BTW Johnny's Ampeg rig must be custom built with those horns! Monstrous!!!

North pretty much nailed it.... Lima Guy has a similiar set up. A MB200 into a mbe 2x10 cab.


I'm a GK guy, but there is also the Ampeg portaflex series, which seem to be very good, if you like the ampeg sound.

I'd say those are top 2 in the affordable range

Everyone here knows I love the Ampeg sound! The portaflex is affordable and versatile...but GK makes some awesome cab combos also. Can't go wrong with either. For portability for small to medium gigs, 100-500 people, I use my B-15T portaflex Flip-Top...for bigger inside/outdoor gigs I use my Ampeg SVT 810e w/PF-500. I use it for practice at home too. Haha! Just turn volume to 1-2. Haha!

ya I heard he got the last 2 of those custom made horns.... no more will be made. At least that is what I read, who knows
