I played my ReBop for a few hours today and got a much better appreciation for the non-trim pot Tone Pump. Compared with my initial impressions of my NS-2A basses, the ReBop seemed a little lacking at first. Turns out I just needed to spend some quality time with the ReBop.

Now the magic is starting to shine through and it is quickly gaining favor.

If anyone has a Euro 4LX or LX-TW they're thinking of selling please PM me the info.

I posted up my curly bubinga/flamed maple Warwick FNA Jazzman LTD to fund another Spector.

i was watching some reviews and demos for the Euro 4LX TW 35. what a monstruosity of bass!!!... fell in love inmediatly. The thing is that price is way out of my budget. I was wondering what are tour thoughts on the Legend Classic 4, compared to the Euro 4lx tw. Do you have any experience with the Legend using a low tunning (B E A D) ?

Ill be getting a tw in a couple months... The legend has different pickups and preamp... It's a great bass but completely different!

I had a legend custom 5 and really really liked it !!!!! I would own another !

Johnny April uses 5 string Legends in Staind. He tunes G#, C#, G#, C#, F#. His rig is massive but he even records with the Legends.... Depending what tone you are looking for (the CS-TW is very versatile) I would think you could get it out of the Legend. or get a Legend and upgrade to a tonepump and you I think you will really like the tone.

Down tuning is all about string tension, so that would be easily fixed

Yeah, your definitely right. I saw those posts to their FB page, too. Guess I just skimmed over 'em.
You have any idea what tuning he's using for trioscapes? I'd guess standard, but you never know. I want to start transcribing 'blast off'. It's such a cool tune!

I'm not sure on the tuning? I'd think since he's the only string instrument and no singing... Possibly standard or down half? I can't imagine it far from standard.

Nice shot. I'm hoping to catch JA next month live and in person when they play EDBD IX in Orlando. Just having to juggle since it falls the same weekend as the blues festival and I already have tix for that, too.

i'm about to buy a us bolt on, i'm shopping for a small portable rig for practice and maybe a gig or two. any opinions on which amps sound the best , i play many styles.

If you want small, portable, ultra light, great sound at practice levels, great sound and loud enough for bar gigs and expandable for larger club gigs then look no further than the GK MB210 combo. It's a 2x10 combo that only weighs about 32 pounds and can take extension cabs to easily get club gig loud or can be played in 2x10 mode for practice or small venues. It really plays nicely with my Spector REX5 and doesn't fart out on loud low B string notes.

North pretty much nailed it.... Lima Guy has a similiar set up. A MB200 into a mbe 2x10 cab.


I'm a GK guy, but there is also the Ampeg portaflex series, which seem to be very good, if you like the ampeg sound.

I'd say those are top 2 in the affordable range

Highly recommending the GK as mentioned above. Very light and it seriously has some major volume and great tone.

Oh god just saw on the website that the Plum color is available in matte finish as well!!!
...I think I know my next S.A.S. bass.......

Although the price list doesn't say what a custom finish costs, just custom wood tops

Just got myself a China Spector. A Performer from the first year made outside the US, year 2002. It is a fairly good bass. Nice neck, stirdy joints and so on.

I want to get rid of the EMG SSD pups (EMG HZ). They sound crap!

Talked to PJ at Spector and he advised me to leave the bass as it is. But I want to use this instrument..

So, what do I go for? To get a balansed sounding bass? EMG 35's? Bartolinis? Seymour Duncan? Kent Armstrong?

Thoughts?

First off congrats on the new bass! I put EMG HZ pups (not voiced as mid heavy as the SSDs) and a tonepump on my Performer. I loved the outcome! That would be my advice. you might even try just adding a preamp (tonepump is hard to beat at $100) that would surely beef up your tone.

The are little differences but I think for the most part most of us around here will agree that it's hard to go wrong with some type of EMG pickups in a Spector.
