Loved the Markbass sound from the first try.
Had the 121 combo. Loved it but will get another newer model with the Combo II (equivalent to the LMIII) head.
Currently use a LMIII as my main, but that will soon be relegated to backup as I'm looking to get a LM800, LMT800 or a SD1200 soon.
I use either my VTBass or a Zoom B2 depending on style and amount of grit needed.
Never used (other than the combo) their speaker cabs so I can't really comment on those.

First impressions of the DDT's on the Euro

As stainless steel strings they are definitely zingy and clanky, but rolling both EQ knobs back on the tonepump it still has nice mid presence like most DR's I've used, and not too scooped sounding like all other stainless strings I've used. I think its just the combo of strings/EMGs/Tonepump but it works.

Hopefully as they break in and lose that nasty clank I can get some more sounds from them. Definitely felt much more "full" than whatever nickels the previous owner had on it. So far they are super steady in tune, but I've only gone back and forth from dropping the low string a couple of times. I noticed when i first strung it that I only had to stretch the strings and retune about 3 times to get them to stay perfect, versus more times with other strings.

Gotta squeeze the b with some pliers at the bridge end and you'll be good.

A question for the Spector gurus...
I have a REX5 and love it, plays VERY agressive with boatloads of growl. I've been bitten by the Spector bug and am considering giving another of Stewart's products a home. Unfortunately I know very little about Spectors and the different models and haven't been able to find many in the stores to try out first. I bought the REX5 Pro sight unseen and couldn't be happier.
I'm looking at this legend on eBay but again, it would be sight unseen with no opportunity to play it or hear it.

Question - I haven't seen a Legend 5 with a Jazz pickup before but I suspect it would sound very different from my REX5 - is that correct? Would it sound closer to a jazz bass and how does the jazz pu sound blended with the humbucker right up against the bridge? Any one with experience on this model and pickup configuration have any words of wisdom or a link to some sound clips.
Also, this Legend is a 5 string, would the neck width and shape be anything like my REX5 (thin and fast) or is it closer to Fender Jazz 5 neck or something else.

I have a Legend 5 that has the 2 soapbars...I can tell you that the spacing is a little thin for my bigger hands and the neck is a little thicker....It is pretty growly, cannot speak for the J pickup model as I have no experience with it. I am sure it would sound different than the REX

Jaymi - thx for the quick response. I did play what I think was a legend 4 about a year ago with the two soap bar pickups. It sounded good, but not a clear departure from my REX.
I'm looking for a Spector with a completely different sound from the REX, I've got the growly agressive metal end of the music covered well with that bass. Now I'm looking for the other end of the spectrum - something smooth, laid back, musical, detailed and capable of melodic jazz riffs and chords.
The jazz pickup in the Legend 5 classic peaked my interest but I've never heard a Spector with a jazz pickup before and not even sure what tone controls it has on-board since their current line up of legends doesn't even list a jazz model.
Any one else have experience with a Spector Legend Classic 5 (with jazz/soapbar)?

I switched to the D'Addario nickels and really like them on my Rebop5. The strange thing is, the nickels have tapered low B strings but the steel ones don't and since I am using a .145 B string, I knew tapered was the only way to go.

Not sure if you are against using nickel strings but I used only steel previously and have the D'Addario nickels on my Rebop5 and Spector nickels on my NS-5XL and really like them. I have DR Hi-Beams on my Euro 5LX though and they are steel and like them as well but like Grendle mentioned, I needed to squeeze the B string with pliers to get it to fit into the bridge.

I know it's not everyone's Fav , but who here has used an ampeg b4r with their Spector ???

Trying to pick what head I'm gonna pair up with my pr410hlf . List goes - svt3pro , 4pro , b4r , b5r , 400t , svt450 , svt 1000

I've had a svt 3 pro , and a 400t

Owned a ton of tube svt s just not sure if I want another 100 pound boat anchor and tube maintenance ....

Before you file the B Slot on the your bridge.
