I have an American style Spector bridge. The one with the floating blocks.
What procedure do you all use for setting it up.
I've already done my intonation. Just want to check if I have it set up the BEST way.

First one is an MTV NS-2A, commissioned by MTV and used in many promos on the channel in the early days. Dweezil Zappa adopted it and used it on his show and in most of his MTV promos as well.

I haven't really had a problem with the 300W, but there have been times where I've wanted more. It can be run as a preamp with a separate power amp, which is something I've been thinking about, but all in all it is definitely a great amp.

Here is a studio recording of a band I used to play in. This is my NS-2 through my Landmark mixed with an 800rb as well, but mainly the Landmark.

Messing around this morning with some new tones. I'm trying to get a cleaner bass sound and cut through some as well. Tried a Rectifier sound for the guitars. Hope you guys like it! Feedback is always welcome!

You have a Ampeg B-15T too? That was my first "quality" bass amp. I bought mine back in '89 or '90 I believe. It's still running strong and has never let me down! Often I run my GK400RBIV through the cabinet. It's a great little amp.

Haha, cool! Same here! My first quality rig too. Bought it back in 09'. Never will sell it! Had a Marshall M30 combo prior. The B-15T is so versatile! I've used it for playing before a crowd of 500+! I've also have plugged my PF-500 into it...amazing! It sure is a reliable rig indeed! People can't believe how it just flips inside for storage.

Wish I could say they were mine, but they are on loan for the weekend. I'm doing a panel session at the local guitar show, and these are part of my presentation.

They are from the personal collection of Andy Papiccio, CEO and founder of AP International and the distributor of Brubaker basses.

He was one of the owners of Kramer and the ONLY person who was there from when they opened their doors in the '70s until the door was locked and passed off to the bank at the end.

I get to play with them for the weekend. Both are USA made Kramer Spectors. I think my wife loved them more then me....

Very nice bass collection indeed! Haha! Your model has the Gene Simmons pose down good! The green bass that has the tuning fork looking headstock, that a Fender Jag? Nice!

I forgot those were on my sparse Flickr account.

That is a Vaccaro Generation X bass circa 2000, one of only 6 known to have been made. Mine is one of only two instruments ever made by Vaccaro in seafoam green.

Its one hell of a player too. The pickups on that bass are the hottest passive J's I've ever played. That bass also records like a dream.

You are right, the sound guy for Opeth had the kick drum way too loud, IMO. Very rarely could you hear the bass player. Plus, the kept him in the dark most of the time so you couldn't even watch what he was playing. Mastodon seemed to have everyone mixed right except the bass was very low. Ghost, on the other hand... Wow! That dude had a monstrous tone and it was loud. P Bass at its finest.

Not Spector amongst them. Lots of fenders and a Warwick Streamer with fretboard inlays. It did look like one at times. ;-)



If you were like me, wanting to hear older stuff you may have been a little disappointed in the set list. They saved that for the last two songs, but they were awesome.

that sucks! there may be 1 or 2 songs on heritage id want to hear live and one of them is marrow of the earth. other than that, theyd better play 3 from each from blackwater park on!!

Yeah, I wanted to hear some more early stuff too, but I honestly didn't mind, because I really dug heritage. But when they kicked into deliverance and he started screaming/growling, everyone in the crowd was just like 'oh yeah!!!!!'
And from where I was I could see Martin Mendez just fine. I think that just varies from stage to stage.

Unfortunately, I have to take the blame for Sam with this Rex Brown tone That is pretty much all I talk to him about so I think it rubbed off on him and it became a mission for him to re-create. He sure nailed it though and then went 20 steps past that with the Powerpoint presentation he created....I mean diagram Awesome as always Sam, you rule!

I like that! Funny you should mention the 800RB that's the other amp I've always wanted. Maybe I should try a BDDI into an 800RB?

Thanks Brent. I loved my 800rb paired with BDDI. That amp is probably the most under appreciated amp out there. The Landmark just made my life so much easier because of the versatility. Plus I never have to argue with sound guys who want a DI.

Hey John, I know I'm late to the conversation & I don't have any experience with the RBI, but I've been using the Tech 21 Landmark 300, which is kind like the RBI & RPM (more the Bass driver & Para driver) all in one with a power amp, for years now, & I still love it. I can dial in just about any tone I need. I run the RPM side the most, & use the RBI to get my grit. It can go from a very mild overdrive to a full on distortion no problem. I've used it for jazz gigs, singer/songwriter gigs, and it came in especially handy when I was touring with a solo instrumental shred guitarist that doubled in flamenco. I had to be the bass player & the rhythm guitarist all in one. Loved it with my 8 string too. I feel like the RBI will work nicely with your rig. I hope this helps.

And also, I was at the Giant Stadium Ozzfest, and that was the sickest pit I've ever been in. My friend was arrested that day for hopping the fence, and the troopers tuned him up real good. Really sucked for him. I gotta say I do miss Pantera.

Yeah, it was pretty crazy, but he does have a great story to tell about how he got on the field. They owned that Ozzfest! Glad you like the RBI. I love the Tech 21 stuff. I really was thinking about grabbing the RBI & RPM, but the Landmark gets the job done. I think I'm going to get a serious power amp soon to power my HyDrive cabs.
