I'd recommend #2 first...BTW that's a NS-2A, not a NS-4/5 that he's advertising. NS-4's are made in Woodstock, NY...this one says made in Korea, which is where the NS-2A were made. This is a great bass and especially for your first Spector! It'll cover all the genre' you listed and everything else. The price is right in the range where it should be.

#1 is a really nice Legend 4 Custom with Bubinga wood top, Alder back. That is a really good price also! It's a bolt-on vs. a neckthru like the NS-2A, it'll give you more more of a punchy aggressive tone. It'll do you fine for what you're looking for. It's a great bass too!

It basically comes down to a personal decision...the NS-2A will give you fuller low tones, growling mids, rich highs and great sustain forever! It's a very durable bass, low fast string action. A lot of bang for your buck! If you thing you can possible swing the $$, get this one! If not...

Buy #1...if you ever decide to resale you'll get your $$ back as its not a common wood. They seem to come in cycles. Lol For a long time you won't see any and the about every 2 years a few will suddenly surface!
There are a few club members here that have one of these, 4 & 5 string.

The others are Spector Performers which is the entry level price bass but again, you get a good bass for what you pay! There's Spector endorsed artist that play the Performers and they sound good. IMO, these two are a bit over priced for used basses. On Guitar Centers used basses you can pick up a Performer for $120.00-175.00 all day long! Legend 4's $150-300.00.

Knowing Beaver at BC, you should be able to talk that price down another $400+ easily! Also, if you don't have all the $$$ for it yet and don't want it to be bought from underneath you, for a $500 deposit they'll put in on a layaway plan for you with zero interest! This will take some head scratching for sure.
If it is meant to be, it will be...otherwise, sure there will be others I like down the road.

John...I kept all my basses in the cases standing on end along side my SVT 810 cab, but I keep one out that I'm playing, all the time, in a guitar stand. I believe I heard JPS(?) please forgive me JPS if I'm wrong okay :D, or someone on here anyways say keep your basses that you're not playing in their HSC as this'll help control the bass's climate. Put a disicant packet in the case also.

Looks like Bobunit and I asked the same question within a few minutes of each other :)

Thanks everyone for the tips on keeping the basses in the cases as well. I am going to run out and pickup some gel packs today but one problem I have is I don't have a case for my Rebop. I have a gig bag for it but I doubt that will work as good unless I leave one bass out that I am playing and keep the others in the cases.

#2 is not a NS2A its a NS20004 stil a great bass but not a NS2A

I have to get a case for my incoming ReBop as well. Let me know what you end up with. I've heard the RoadRunner stuff is too "empty" and the basses move around, but the Gator ones fit more snugly on the smaller bodies of the NS design.

First, a special thanks to Bassmanc for allowing me to buy his baby from him.

As I expected, the neck on this bass is much thinner then the Forte neck. It is very similar to a NS-2A neck. But the bass just feels much more solid.

In person, the bass is just stunning.

The tone of the bass is very similar to my Forte w/haz.

The NS-2 has a bit less treble to it, I assume because of the older EMGs and older haz. Im not an over treble type guy so I love it. :hyper:

As promised here are some sound clips. My usual riff comparing the NS-2, Forte and Euro 4LX. All 3 basses have brand new Dunlop Steels 45-105

Again Sam...congrats on an awesome bass and a dream bass fulfillment!

Wow...the NS-2 and Forte 4 are so close to each other!
I can't pick a fav! :ninja: The Forte 4 seems a pinch bigger on the bottom end but the NS-2 is a bit more warmer over all and articulent.

The Euro 4LX is definately biggest on the lowend but not as clear and articulent as the other two. A bit muddier...HUGE sounding though!
