I am just awful with a pick so i always play finger style on the Pantera stuff. I might not get the exact attack that Rex gets but boosting the treble and dirtying up the signal with my Sansamp RBI can get me fairly close. I should probably practice more with a pick but I feel I have much more control using my fingers so I stick to that style of playing. I am working on the 3 finger technique to get my speed up with that and it has been a really big help as well.

I like the 40DCs the best (though I am looking forward to trying the X series DCs when I can afford it) out of the available choices. I like the single coil tone of the TWs but not the humbucker tone, and the CS models just don't have a deep enough low end or enough snap for my tastes. But the thought of being able to cop a PJ tone on a 5 string Spector is really exciting, but does it really work out in execution?

I don't have a Euro but I do have the 40P/J's on my Forte 5. I've had 3 other Spector basses with P/J pups and I can say with certainty the 40P/J's sound right on the money! A ton of lowend! :bassist:

Especially Grendle's green Wimbish. That top and that finish are incredible.

Hoping to get my LX 4 & 5 from my tech tomorrow. I will post pics ASAP. I'm not a particular fan of red, but for those of you who are, you're going to love the flame top with the black cherry. It's gorgeous. Such nice wood. I was worried back when they switched from solid figured maple wings to the layered construction in the Czech models, but they use a really nice, thick piece for the top that can actually add to the tone. Most tops on less expensive basses are so thin that they have no impact whatsoever on the tonal composition of the bass. And especially on a neck-through, everything in the body is really felt and heard. But Spector does not scrimp on the wood and they really put nice thick tops on the LXs. And with the new electronics from front to back... it's gonna sound like a monster. Cannot wait! Then when I get my club number from Trace, I'll actually update my TB profile with what I'm currently using/own, my Spector club status, etc. It's never been a big priority, but sometimes it's the little things, you know? Just happy to finally be back at a place in my life where I actually have equipment to play through.[/QUOTE]

Not true Phat. I know I'm endorsed by Hipshot, but I'm sure if you contact them, they can get you a Schaller with the screw on the bottom. I got one for my JA-R, sent it back & got the right one no problem. They have great customer service.

I just sold my Euro5 (2002) for $1100 + shipping. It had an OBP-1 and was MINT (no scratches, dings, etc.). EMG 40DC soapbars.
I had to go to eBay to sell it; it was a natural quilted maple gloss finish. Had it been a more fancy-arse color, it would have sold immediately.
So, depending on the color, you may get $900 - $1100 for the 4 (high end if it's green or blue). The 5 may go for $1100 - $1300 (again, higher end for fancy finish). Dings, scratches, wear etc. lower the condition to "good" or "fair" from "new", "perfect", or "mint".

Noise??? Hmmmm...I haven't tried it yet. That don't sound great. Was it a matter of needing to adjust volume, gain or something you think? Now I'm curious and I'll have to get it out.

let us know if you have noise issues too... unfortunately I recently had to switch to droid (I went swimming with my iphone 4) but I do have an ipad still.

Hey, watch where you are pulling that thing out! :)

The one thing the iRig has over the Apogee Jam is the iRig works with the Amplitube app but the Jam doesn't. Amplitube does look pretty cool but it's not cheap. It's $20 and then they make you payfor extra amps and pedals which makes it pretty pricey so I bought the David Ellefson Rock Shop app and it's pretty cool.
