It has the original master recordings for the songs along with notation and tablature and you can hear exactly how the songs were played and even slow them down and loop them so you can figure them out. I bought the whole "Vulgar Display of Power" by Pantera pack and it really is just amazing. The songs seem a bit pricey but to be able to get the actual master recording and remove certain parts and record yourself over it, i think it's worth it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Jammit. I checked it out a while back, but never did anything with it as it seemed so expensive. But now the whole Vulgar record is on there it might be worth the 30 bucks to dive deep into Rex's world from 20 years ago.

I totally agree on it being expensive and before the Pantera pack came out, i really had little interest in it. Now after using it though, it really is a cool product once you see what it can do.

Most of the other songs they sell, I can figure out on my own but being a huge Pantera fan, I jumped right on it since some of the bass lines aren't that easy to hear when listening to the CD. They are supposedly adding constantly to the list of songs so I hope they get more good ones.

Just curious. Do you play with a pick when jamming Pantera stuff? I'm predominantly a fingerstyle player and honestly suck with a pick. It might be a good way for me to improve my picking as a 30 investment might motivate me to do so. I love Pantera, but never spent much time learning it in the past.

The NS2A I sent back to him was totally on me, not on him. The bass was very nice, I did like it, but I have been a little spoiled playing my NS-4. My plan was to order my NS-2, sell or trade in my NS-4 and to have Steve's NS-2A as my back up/second bass/bass I could leave at school for practicing there.

I got his bass and it was exactly as he described it and a really nice bass. A couple of things happened for us (I thought we were going to be taking a really big pay cut, we didn't have to) and I figured out I didn't have to sell or trade my NS-4, I could keep it, and since I liked Steve's bass but not nearly as much as my NS-4, Steve was nice enough to take it back (He told me he would if I didn't dig it when I bought it) and resold it right away, which I was very glad about.

So, I would not hesitate to buy anything from Steve, he was up front and awesome throughout the whole thing and I'm really glad it has seemed to work out for him and I and another Lad who is enjoying the NS-2A!

I have a Forte 5 with OBP-3 pre and EMG-40P5/40J pups and it's an amazing bass! The OBP-3 can dial in pretty much any tone you're looking for. I need to try and do some home recording and post here soon. I would highly recommend The Forte 5 and the OBP-3! The USA handbuilt Forte 5 is really close to the Euro prices too. And basically you're getting a stripped down no frills but all tone NS-5. :D

I had a ReBop 5 DLX 2009 model but the tone just wasn't what I was looking for. Though I received lots of compliments from people over the tone. It's not going to give you the same as a Euro Neckthru tone.

I am just awful with a pick so i always play finger style on the Pantera stuff. I might not get the exact attack that Rex gets but boosting the treble and dirtying up the signal with my Sansamp RBI can get me fairly close. I should probably practice more with a pick but I feel I have much more control using my fingers so I stick to that style of playing. I am working on the 3 finger technique to get my speed up with that and it has been a really big help as well.

Donny, did you swap out the pickups yet? It looks like those are still the HZs (but my eyes suck so I could be wrong) and I know you were putting in the soapbar 35P & J combination. I can't wait to hear what you think of the whole package, but again, especially the pickups.

Has anyone else tried the 40P&J combo in a Euro 5LX? How does it sound? I know with the 35" scale it won't be the same as a LX4, but I want to know if it gets close to copping the original PJ Spector 4 vibe but in a 5 string body.

I like the 40DCs the best (though I am looking forward to trying the X series DCs when I can afford it) out of the available choices. I like the single coil tone of the TWs but not the humbucker tone, and the CS models just don't have a deep enough low end or enough snap for my tastes. But the thought of being able to cop a PJ tone on a 5 string Spector is really exciting, but does it really work out in execution?

I took that pic when I opened the case for the first time.... EMG 35P and 35J and tonepump (thanks to you) are installed and ready to rock.

Ice has the 40p/j pups in his forte and loves them

Learning Rex's stuff note for note will get you pretty far down the line as far as advanced pickstyle playing goes. He does a lot of string skipping and chords and stuff so doing that with just a pick available is pretty cool. I do about 70/30 pick to fingers, and seeing as Rex + Newsted are my top 2 guys, explains a lot of it. :bassist::bassist:

And also helps you get some of his palm mute stuff a lot easier that way. Can you palm mute with fingerstyle lol? I've never tried.

Only other than mentioning the 6LX in 2006 and trim potted Tone Pump in 2008 which has been stated many times.

I'm not sure what the story there is. The OLD 70s ones you see on Les Paul Triumphs and stuff had the screw on the bottom. Then, most of the later stuff in the 80s and beyond had the screw off to one side. NOW I see the Euro Spectors have it on the bottom again. :confused::confused::confused:
