Really...the feel? The 87 Kramer NS-2A I owned was one of the best feeling basses I'd owned. Very low string action, thin neck front to back, fast neck. The tone was great with Haz pre and Spector pups but they needed changed out with EMG actives, which next owner did and sounded even better. Thought about switching the pups for active EMG's?

Wow! Thanks John for sharing this video! Pretty impressive tones! More upright bass sounding. Cool! I wanted to buy one about 1 year ago but like you said, I couldn't find a good sound clip or video. I like the sound better than the Legend I think.

Thanks man. That is really good to know. I've now got some GAS percolating for PJ soaps to put in that LX5... but since I'm probably going to sell it it probably isn't worth the money. But man, it would sound so good...

Loving the new icon, BTW. Really a great looking bass. All that maple has to sound and feel amazing. What's the weight feel like to you?

I also like the Classic Crunch and Sunshine Drive (Orange) models. It's too bad, and surprising, they don't have bass amp models in GarageBand yet. :confused:

Ok guys...if you love saving $$$ and buy a product that'll do about it all for $60.00 less, then check the iRig out! I bought mine in Best Buy store.

Especially Grendle's green Wimbish. That top and that finish are incredible.

Hoping to get my LX 4 & 5 from my tech tomorrow. I will post pics ASAP. I'm not a particular fan of red, but for those of you who are, you're going to love the flame top with the black cherry. It's gorgeous. Such nice wood. I was worried back when they switched from solid figured maple wings to the layered construction in the Czech models, but they use a really nice, thick piece for the top that can actually add to the tone. Most tops on less expensive basses are so thin that they have no impact whatsoever on the tonal composition of the bass. And especially on a neck-through, everything in the body is really felt and heard. But Spector does not scrimp on the wood and they really put nice thick tops on the LXs. And with the new electronics from front to back... it's gonna sound like a monster. Cannot wait! Then when I get my club number from Trace, I'll actually update my TB profile with what I'm currently using/own, my Spector club status, etc. It's never been a big priority, but sometimes it's the little things, you know? Just happy to finally be back at a place in my life where I actually have equipment to play through.[/QUOTE]

I tried out the iRig and returned it right away. It introduced too much noise into the signal since it plugs into the headphone connector and when I tried out the Jam, it was much better. I don't mind paying more money to have a connection with no noise.

Which one are you interested in? Seriously. I only want to try and hold on to one of them till the white one comes in, but I may even give in and sell before then just because of the inevitable pressure that builds up over the bills. For sure the 4 is going to go no matter what simply because red just isn't my ting and I'll already have a white 4 at some point in the near future.

But if anyone is interested in either one (or both) please let me know.

Just a recap, both are now fitted with a BTC pre-amp with the EXB circuit as the fourth knob. Both wired in 9v. Both have Sadowsky black label steels on them. The 4 has X series PJs and the LX 5 has 40DCs. Both have EMG knobs (which are a nice step up from the usual plastic Euro knobs). The only other difference is that the 5 has Dunolp dual-design straplocks instead of Schaller due to it being loaned by Spector to Dunlop as a booth bass for this past January's NAMM show. Cosmetically the 4 is mint. The 5 has a little wear in some places due to it essentially being a demo model.

I was thinking $1200 before splitting shipping 50/50 (which is about $100 total insured via UPS ground from my past experience)? It's got about $320 in electronics upgrades in it (not counting a pro setup on top of that), and it also comes with a new Spector gig bag (about $50). Do you think that's too much, too little, or about right?

Please be honest with me. I don't want to make the same mistake I did with the NS-2A when I originally tried to sell it, but I also don't want to undersell this one. I'm throwing myself on the mercy of you guys to be honest with me about what a fair market value is for it given the upgrades and demo condition (which includes two small dings on the back and some of the serial number rubbing off a little bit - otherwise it's flawless). It hasn't been played outside of the Dunlop booth at NAMM.

Again, I hope to have pics tomorrow for you guys.
