SPECTOR® Club - Part 33

I'm not sure what the story there is. The OLD 70s ones you see on Les Paul Triumphs and stuff had the screw on the bottom. Then, most of the later stuff in the 80s and beyond had the screw off to one side. NOW I see the Euro Spectors have it on the bottom again.:confused::confused:
If you have the ones to the side, the Hipshot should line right up.
If you have the ones on the bottom, there is no way around having to drill the hole for it. :(

my new treasure ;)

I have the Apogee Jam as well and i am really happy with it. I need to mess around more with Garageband but so far, I really like what you can do.

To anyone that has an iPad or iPhone as well as a Mac, definitely check out the app called Jammit. This is really the coolest thing i have ever seen and they are coming out with a beta Windows version tomorrow.

https://jammit.com/

It has the original master recordings for the songs along with notation and tablature and you can hear exactly how the songs were played and even slow them down and loop them so you can figure them out. I bought the whole "Vulgar Display of Power" by Pantera pack and it really is just amazing. The songs seem a bit pricey but to be able to get the actual master recording and remove certain parts and record yourself over it, i think it's worth it.

Very cool!

HOLY CRAP!!!!

I just jammed my new Rex with EMG PJs and Tonepump through my GK rig (only one 410 cab) and it absolutely slays... Can't wait to see what it does in a band setting :bassist:

Nice! Really makes me miss mine.

I had one just like yours (but in the brownish sunburst), and I let it go because it was a bit neck-heavy & didn't sound as good as my white Euro. It's a shame - I got it off the 'Bay for a great price, & always liked the way it looked & played... It never crossed my mind to upgrade the electronics. New pickups & pre would have turned it into an animal!

I totally agree on it being expensive and before the Pantera pack came out, i really had little interest in it. Now after using it though, it really is a cool product once you see what it can do.

Most of the other songs they sell, I can figure out on my own but being a huge Pantera fan, I jumped right on it since some of the bass lines aren't that easy to hear when listening to the CD. They are supposedly adding constantly to the list of songs so I hope they get more good ones.

Nice!!..first cover song I ever did was "Domination" by Pantera in the early 90s.:bassist:

That is a sick bass Donny! I have not been a huge fan of the "thunderbird" style body, but the last few Spector Rex's I have seen are starting to change my mind!

...I'm officially a fan and now I want to try one!!! :bassist:

I tried one and kept thinking about it for a few months... then I finally bought one... I've been playing it all day, I really dig it

Congrats dude. How would you compare it to your NS-4CRFM? Esp as far as the pickups go?

Its close... The Rex is a little more aggressive sounding (some of that is the new strings). The CRFM is a bit warmer on the low end but the mids and highs are almost identical on both basses.

I will know better when the strings break in on the Rex.

very nice!

Can't wait to hear how the PJ pickups in the humbucker casings stack up to your regular PJ sets. Even though I'm sure it's not a high priority right now, let us know ASAP! The curiosity is strong in this one.

Well I had P/J's on my former Ian Hill & Forte 4 and I have the 40P/J's on my Forte 5...I'd say the stack up the same, IMO.

[QUOT]There's something very cool & unusual about the green that Spector uses.[/QUOTE]

Especially Grendle's green Wimbish. That top and that finish are incredible.

Hoping to get my LX 4 & 5 from my tech tomorrow. I will post pics ASAP. I'm not a particular fan of red, but for those of you who are, you're going to love the flame top with the black cherry. It's gorgeous. Such nice wood. I was worried back when they switched from solid figured maple wings to the layered construction in the Czech models, but they use a really nice, thick piece for the top that can actually add to the tone. Most tops on less expensive basses are so thin that they have no impact whatsoever on the tonal composition of the bass. And especially on a neck-through, everything in the body is really felt and heard. But Spector does not scrimp on the wood and they really put nice thick tops on the LXs. And with the new electronics from front to back... it's gonna sound like a monster. Cannot wait! Then when I get my club number from Trace, I'll actually update my TB profile with what I'm currently using/own, my Spector club status, etc. It's never been a big priority, but sometimes it's the little things, you know? Just happy to finally be back at a place in my life where I actually have equipment to play through.

Sorry for the long post. Hope the wine helped :) That's how it will most likely end up, yes. I'll keep the white Euro and my MTD (which I have sworn to never, ever sell... and yes I know everyone says that about a bass sooner or later, but I've managed to stick to it with this one). I'll have the Euro LX4 and 5 around for a bit though so that I can enjoy having them and feeling like a guy that can indulge all of his GAS fantasies for five minutes :) I'd like to keep at least one of them until the white Euro comes in from BC. And then they'll have to go so that I can keep working off the debt. After all, that's what I did the work for initially: I intended to sell whatever I got in barter to pay off bills. I just got caught up in the GAS moment when he offered to get me a couple of basses on Amazon... I was weak, I was weak.

Hey it happens to all of us st one time...or two...or three...OR...lol
I said I'd never sell the Ian Hill I had but I got bit by the USA Spector S.A.S.! Lol Good luck! Kind of reminds me of stock brokerage...buy buy buy...sell sell sell! Hahaha! :ninja:
