White Ian Hill, came in yesterday....

Thanks for all of the positive words guys. It means a lot coming from what has been such a tremendous group of people. It definitely makes everything so much more bearable and positive. I don't have enough words to express my gratitude, but please know it is heartfelt.

Got to spend an awesome day with Jaymi (beast player, wonderfully knowledgeable guy) delivering the smadder set up Ian Hill and I have definitely made another convert. We a/B'd it with his TP Wimbish (which is one beautiful bass) and his haz Brooklyn J and the smadder stood its ground. It's got the growl if you want it, but it also provides crystal clear lows and highs if you want that too. I'm telling you it's really a killer, killer set up. Affordable, easy to install and dead quiet. It's total peanut butter to the Spector jelly. Jaymi can speak to it better than me, but after sitting and comparing it , it really is something special. Thanks for being such a great host Jaymi. I really had a great time. Can't wait to see the videos and I hope the bass proves to be a worthy addition to your studio arsenal.

I drove 6,800 miles over 14 days to visit the Spector NY Workshop and then PJ Rubal's collection of rare and one of a kind Spectors.

I visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum where I was allowed to inspect the 1983 NS-2 that Sting made famous.

I rounded the trip out with a few Spector Artist visits and some live footage of a couple of shows.

Along the way I visited Sam Cerami and John DeLuca at Sam's house. We played basses and talked shop and ate bagels. It was a great time.

You're getting to meet the person whose musical life you're helping build and contribute to. It's a great experience. But I know part of you is sad to see it go. And at that price it'll fly.

I'm not saying it can't hold it's own or that it doesn't sound amazing, but there is a reason Stuart went with the HAZ and TP. I'm very interested in seeing/hearing the video from Jaymi.

That being said, It is cool how you put together that combo of EMG pres for the "smadder set up"

It's interesting, a lot of people out there don't like the TonePump and I don't get it, other than maybe they don't know how to set the level correctly.

haha thats for sure! I've been talking with Ra Diaz and hes trying to work it out to be there too. Its the whole "doesn't live in the country" thing he's working out haha

Jaymi, have you heard the Haz in a NS 2 or in a PJ configuration? I know you have one in the 2J, just cant remember if you have/had one in an NS2.

I'd probably would have already tried Steve's setup if the mid control was boost and not cut (contour).

But, like most, I'll reserve too much judgment until I hear it LIVE with my own two ears.

Good to hear!....what do you mean by a Smadder setup?...your own made pre-amp???...
