Cant wait for Jaymi's video. His comments about the aggressive pick tone is so true. I'm actually playing more with a pick now than I ever have because it sounds so badass.

It can do it all very well, finger style, pick, slap... Great setup.

Speaking of awesome, MY NS-2A IS HERE!
It sounds pretty darn good, love the haz-copy preamp, really weird comparing the circuit board of the one in this NS-2A to the haz-copy with blend (instead of 2 volumes) that I have because of how similar they are except for tiny details!

And the reason I'm looking at the circuit board is I'm putting in the old-school Dimarzio's in it, the stock pickups remind me of EMG Hz's, they sound good, but others could sound better! Sadly the P-pickup I had is having probs so I'm leaving it out for now, pics to come later when I get both all set and installed.

Congrats on the NS-2A! Can't wait to see/hear it after you change the electric!!! That combo hasn't been done on here before I believe. Cool! I love it how people on here are so creative with electronics on their Spectors!

I visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum where I was allowed to inspect the 1983 NS-2 that Sting made famous.

I rounded the trip out with a few Spector Artist visits and some live footage of a couple of shows.

Along the way I visited Sam Cerami and John DeLuca at Sam's house. We played basses and talked shop and ate bagels. It was a great time.

Lol! I knew this guy several years back, that watched it every morning when he woke. He "was" an Indiana State Trooper until he went section 8! :rollno: He could quote any scene easily. I think he lived it a bit too much...He became spooky! Haha :eek:

Probably one of my favorite movies ever. Lol, one of the brass teachers at my school's music department kinda looks like private Pyle. We just keep hoping that he doesn't snap at any of us like Pyle does at that drill sgt.! Haha

The Dimarzio Model J pickup sounds HUGE in the bridge position of this NS-2A, can't wait to get the P in it later this week to hear what a monster this thing will become! I dunno why Stuart switched from Dimarzio Model P-Js to EMG pickups in the NS-2, these things kill! :hyper:
Although... they are really growly and grindy, it may be that Stuart wanted something cleaner, clearer, and more refined seeing as the 80's sound was all about really pop-out-at-you clean bass tone. Either way I will never get ahold of an early early NS-2 so with the Spector 9V tone control copy and dimarzio pickups in this NS-2A will be as close as you can get for under thousands of dollars!

I had forgotten why they were my favorite pickups, I haven't had a P-J bass (not including my Euro which I won't be modding) in years so its good to have them back in! :D

This is interesting......The NS2A I picked up earlier this week sounds great. But I do wish I could get a little more grind out of it. I'll be waiting for the full report when you get the P installed.

This is the very first... the mock-up prototype NS-Bass. The one that started it all.

Made from a defective Spector SB-1 bass with a "butcher's block" style body made from small pieces of wood. This was the prototype design Ned Steinberger developed to see if a curved body design would work.

I think we can all agree that the answer to this is, "Yes it works!!!"

Shot at PJ Rubal's office, this is one of several dozen rare or one-of-a-kind Spector guitars and/or basses in his collection. Without question he's got the most rare Spectors on Earth there.

I also shot photos of me with the very first fully functional NS-Bass. Stuart's first guitar and first bass design. PJ's Brooklyn Number 603 (The nicest Brooklyn NS I've ever seen). The first NS-6 electric guitar (Pre-Kramer), his SD-4 bass and several others. It was a fun time. And I shot a ton of photos. :D

That's so cool. Why the butchers block wood, to save the good stuff for basses they knew would work?
