Ok so short of waiting for the P-pickup replacement, my NS-2A is finally good to go!

As much as I love the Spector bridge when it is all set up, setting it up is always a huge pain whenever I acquire a new Spector, as I always use different strings and higher action than most people (I play very aggressively most of the time, and a lot of my different tones come from using different right-hand dynamics)
so I always have to change around the action and intonation.

The end result is always worth all the work though, as it is great to play and solid as a rock!

I think I may look into getting a brass nut made for this bass, as it currently has a plastic one with the slots filed REALLY low (the action was SUPER SUPER low all along the fretboard when I got it) and I had to build up the slots to get the action I want. I'll have to call up Noll Guitars down the road and see if they'll make and install a brass nut for me.

When I did the restoration on the ns2a that got me started last October or November, I got 3 brass blanks and only used one. I'll be home from Nashville on Tuesday or late Monday night and if I can find the two extras I'd be happy to send you one gratis. Can you wait a few days? I have to dig around but I think they're still around and it would save you a few bucks.

I got the new jack in the mail today, and my guitarist also gave me a soldering set earlier this week! Is there anything I should be aware of when I'm replacing the old jack, or is it a pretty simple swap to do?

Pull the battery and cover the back of the bass because solder can pop and sling. (If you unsolder a wire that is under tension and the wire pops loose it will sling solder.)

The smadder setup does about what I thought it'd do. Sounds friggin' awesome just probably not for me. I can definitely see the value to have it in your arsenal though. Rock on.

Thanks one and all for the comments...these are actually the strings that Steve had on it, they are Sadowsky steels I believe...I am going to slap the nickels on it shortly...
It is always nice to have sound choices in the stash...

Thanks Jaymi, nice to hear the "Smadder" setup. It is too hifi for my personal use, but it really does add a new character to the Spector. Cool stuff!
