About the Euro vs. ReBop question, I have both; Euro5LX and ReBop4. Not that it's been mentioned in this thread, but some will say that neck-throughs are "better" than bolt-ons. IMO, that's not fair. They are different designs that yield different sounding instruments. Just because neck-throughs cost more than simular bolt-ons, it doesn't mean that the quality is different between the two, either.

Some differences to consider...

Bolt-On:
- Punchy tone, sharper attack, less sustain than a neck-through
- More responsive to soft/hard playing

Neck-Through:
- Smoother / heavier tone, natural compression, long sustain
- Better note to note articulation

While many consider "THE" Spector sound to be an NS-2 (P/J pickups, neck-through), there are several configurations of Spector basses and they are all worth considering. Each has it's own special qualities and it's good to discover what "THE" Spector sound means to you.

Have you heard one with active EMG pickups? They make the ReBop a very different animal. The EMG HZs are good, but I do prefer the active EMG sound much better. I just installed a 35P4 (neck) and 35CS (bridge) in my ReBop4 and they sound amazing.

You can, through one of the distributors. I was quoted last week $550 for a fretless rebop 4 string neck. Sam thought that was absurdly high (I agree). But that was only checking with one outfit.

I was told by Henry that one could be had for 225.
Henry had the one for sale in the Classifieds.

I know you guys are feeling these are way overpriced. However, when you consider a new Rebop goes in the $1,400 or more range. It really isn't outrageous after all.

I wondering if you can substitute a fretted neck with a fretless neck for a small up charge, instead of having 2 necks. And spending over two grand.

That was exactly the response that I got from Hanser as well. Paired up with a rebop sourced on the cheap, I don't think its outrageous. It was just more than I could justify for a bass that I may/may not play all that much. (But that's just me).

Hey I just wanted to post some Spector Euro 5 LX love as it's been awhile for me since I did last. It's just a little music video that my band and I put together recently as we are an emerging Ottawa, Ontario metal band. So Mr. PJ Rubal or any other Spector "High brass" that maybe out there watching these forums, I'm still a proud Spector owner for seven years now and hope to add more to my collection, Spectors are my favorite bass. So hats off to everyone in the Spector camp from the manufacturing all the way to public relations and beyond, for whom bring such fine work to us and everyone here. And if these forums are any indication that Spectors are probably one of the most if not the most revered and celebrated "true bass makers" here, I salute you again. So here's the video of some Euro 5 LX action enjoy!:)
