You can, through one of the distributors. I was quoted last week $550 for a fretless rebop 4 string neck. Sam thought that was absurdly high (I agree). But that was only checking with one outfit.

PJ's response;
"those are available thru Hanser our North American distributor of our imported instruments:
Mark Sharp <[email protected]>
he can give you their pricing and availability."

I sent them a email; more to come!
Update;
Hanser's response; "the price on the neck is $595. We are out of stock now but the order was due to us last week so hope to have very soon."

I just spoke with PJ.

There seems to be some confusion on the price that Hanser was quoting to end user customers. (The $550/$595 would a List price)
He is looking into it now with them.
I will let you know what he says.

Considering I only paid $599.00 for my ReBop 5 DLX...and we're used to seeing used prices on here too.

That's exactly what I was thinking! ;)

Sadly for me, I discovered TalkBass just after I paid $1,400 new for my Rebop 5 DLX with gig bag back in March from Music Power. They have em' listed for like $1,599 on eBay. I thought I got a decent deal when I used the "make an offer" at $199 less. :crying:

Needless to say, I've learned quite a bit about the Spector market since then. I guess somebody needs to buy those new ones. It's a shame the resale is so darn low on em' as they really are superior instruments to most in that price range.

That's why I was not surprised to hear the cost of the neck. I'm interested to hear what Limaguy learns from PJ.

Update,

Mark at Hanser now has the correct info on the pricing. You can email him again to get the end user customer price.

so as Spector owners who mainly shop on the used market, we are very spoiled on the price points. A brand new Rex4 Pro goes for about $1100 ReBops $1400. Even at those prices, those are amazing basses. Many of us are lucky to own higher end Spectors (myself included) and it can and does sway our opinion on these "lower dollar" models. I have to say now that I've played my Rex through my big rig and got the Dunlop steels on there... The mid growl that we all love is back!

A Rex can be had used for $450 and competes and destroys IMHO most basses in the $800-$1500 range.

I don't know what Sam paid for his NS-2 but I can guarantee it wasn't much compared to a new one.

i guess my point in this is, Let's not devalue our beloved Spectors because they are significantly less used.

I've bought used and new and I hope to be able to buy more new basses in the future.

here is a little teaser of my basses/rigs (crappy cell pic)

Yes it is, thanks! I think it's the first round of DLX-FM Rebops - it has the non-trim pot TonePump. Which, and I'm in the minority here, I really like. Barely 8 lbs, tons of punch, fully carved body.

I think the non trim TP and HZs pair really nicely. and I agree that ReBop is probably the nicest I've seen... that and the black Zebop someone just picked up

Nice pic Donny!

I've bought my last 3 Spectors new, but not everyone can afford to buy new. And some like a good/great used deal, I know I do. But it doesn't mean we are devaluing our beloved Spectors just because we think a new bolt-on neck is a bit highLy priced, In our opinion. Lol :ninja:

Hey I just wanted to post some Spector Euro 5 LX love as it's been awhile for me since I did last. It's just a little music video that my band and I put together recently as we are an emerging Ottawa, Ontario metal band. So Mr. PJ Rubal or any other Spector "High brass" that maybe out there watching these forums, I'm still a proud Spector owner for seven years now and hope to add more to my collection, Spectors are my favorite bass. So hats off to everyone in the Spector camp from the manufacturing all the way to public relations and beyond, for whom bring such fine work to us and everyone here. And if these forums are any indication that Spectors are probably one of the most if not the most revered and celebrated "true bass makers" here, I salute you again. So here's the video of some Euro 5 LX action enjoy!:)

dude! that song was killer! you just made a new fan. :bassist: and badass spector and playing btw :)

i love the tp i put in my legend and experimental bass. just nasty and mean!

i agree with that. legend has p/j hz and the 5 ibanez has hb-hz's and it's gnarly!
I tried the non trim in my 5 string before I gave it up and it was quite aggressive almost brutal...the bass had DC's in it..

some of us like brutal jaymi ;) especially for the kind of music we play. :bassist::bassist::bassist:

O don't get me wrong I LOVE a great deal... I buy very few things new.

I can't wait for you to get your Coda and hear your review on it. Paul William (local bassist) ordered one too, so I'm going to get to play his :bassist:

and with out a doubt Spectors are the best basses to buy used.

Nothing wrong with buying new, without that there would no used ones to buy and you get exactly what you want when you buy a new one.
I probably bought 40 new ones through the years but now I keep an eye open for a nice used one, having a scratch or ding here or there does not bother me like it once did.

That is exactly true!!

I actually prefer scratches and dings :hiding: drives my guitarist and Sam crazy lol

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their input and wisdom. I'm one of those guys who can't buy new at this time in my life. Not begrudging anyone who can, more power to you. Moneys pretty tight and I wanted the best deal possible. Anyway I received lots of helpful info from everyone. Someday I think I'll have that Euro or maybe even a NS-2.

But untill then I'll be rocking the NS2A I just picked up!:bassist::bassist::bassist::bassist:

That and my Legend 5. I'll post pics of the family when It gets here.
