SPECTOR® Club - Part 37

Okay guys, since my tech is running behind I'm gonna have to start selling things one at a time. I need the money so I can't wait to have all of the basses at once. I wanted to put this on the club thread first before the TB classifieds to see if anybody in the family wants it. If not, I will put it on the block for everyone.

This is a used Ian Hill, black gloss with significant upgrades: the smadder setup of the X series EMG pj pickups, BTC preamp and EXB tone circuit, Sadowsky steel black label strings, and a complete pro set up. It does have some small dings and scratches here and there, but nothing huge or damaging, just usual play wear. The hardware is immaculate and the bass detunes wonderfully and holds great. While it isn't mint, it is definitely in very good condition. It being black gloss, it's a fingerprint magnet, but that's every black gloss bass on the planet. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the bass - it's a phenomenal player, I just need the money more than I need a second neck though Spector and I'm finding I don't dig on gloss black very much. But it's a killer bass.

It will come with the Schaller straplocks and Allen wrenches and a brand new Spector gig bag.

I got this for $1499 from BC just a few weeks ago and decided that I'd rather keep the white JAR than this (I just like the white basses better and with a white Wimbish coming in, I can't afford the luxury of two neck through Spector 4 strings)

Pics are at the bottom of the listing. I'm asking for $1050 shipped or $1000 if we can meet half way somewhere for delivery. I live in Atlanta so if it's a 2-3 hour-ish trip, I can definitely do it.

I'm up:) This morning I went to my friend and Luthier Phil Jacoby of Philtone guitars. I recently bought a NS4-CRFM "transition", dots not inlays. The bass had been used hard and put away wet by its previous owner. The setup on it was awful. The fretboard was really cruddy and the frets were worn in quite a few areas. Phil really knows his way around Spector basses. After about an hour the bass was in flawless playing condition. Frets crowned and polished, fingerboard cleaned and treated. New strings, Spector bridge correctly setup and intonated. This bass now plays better than the US NS2 that is at my local music shop, Washington Music Center. Absolutely unreal. This one will be refinished in the near future. The CRFMs are the best bang for the buck in the Spector world. In my humble opinion, of course:)

Hey I am looking for a Spector Legend 5 but I can only seem to find the Legend 4. So I wanted to know if anyone knew where to find one. Also I will take any other suggestions on spectors I am a slap and finger style player. I play mostly funk and rock and occasional metal and my budget is $500 to $800.

I find that Spectors handle drop tuning really well. In the bands I play in, I switch from Standard to Drop C# to Drop C. Tho I would like a 35" scale 4 string Euro for the Drop C stuff (mainly because Id like to have an always dropped tuned 4 string). Another thing I Love about Spector, any style any tone, Spector has a bass for you.

For 500-800 bux, you are well into the used/clean rebop, or even lucky find on a euro 5 range. Both of those would arguably be "miles ahead" of a legend. I'd also be on the lookout for an older, korean neck thru, either the NS95, or the NS2000. These can be had, all day long, for under 500 bucks. One of my NS2000s gives my euro a run for its money, at about 1/3 the cost. Just putting options out there. The legend 5 is a nice bass, can be had used for around 300

The Ian has a slightly thinner neck (front to back)
The nut size is the same at 1.61

From the measurement Specs that JPS posted a while back.
Std Euro4LX is 0.9 at 1st fret & 0.86 at 12th fret
Ian Hill is 0.83 at 1st fret & 0.85 at 12th fret
