Which was totally done to make room for more.

I'm a sick man. I have SAS... Spector Acquisition Syndrome.

My Current Stable Left to Right:

  • 1988 Kramer-Era NS-2A Fretless (I'm so upside down in this bass I'll never sell it. No way I could ever get all the money I poured into restoring it back out. So it's with me for the long-haul). Anyone who has any questions about if a Korean Spector can hang with a USA... behold. It fits in JUST FINE with the rest of the family. And it actually holds its own.
  • 2011 NS-2 - The Black Pearl
  • 2010 NS-4 - Water Cured Redwood
  • 1996 Spector B.O.B.-4 (Bolt On Bass) #019 - the only B.O.B. to get workshop installed crown inlays.

Sell me The Pearl, sell me The Pearl (low chanting Boogeyman voice).

Quick pic of the Legend 5 that I picked up at a pawn shop today...the Ampeg B100R was just the gravy on the biscuit ;)

Congrats! Awesome X2!!!

I owned a svt2 non pro(pretty much a racked svt) for a while and have always had the option using one an svt as a back line... I am just not an ampeg guy....if you are? you owe it to yourself to at least own an all tube ampeg once in your life! IMO I've never gotten a tech21 or hybrid ampeg to sound as "big"

I'd love to! But...the weight...$$$$ :ninja:

Mine is a Heritage SVT and it is just killer. I brought it with me to Minnesota (The head, not the 8-10 because my friend that sings in one of my 2 bands up there has my old 8-10 so I used his cab with my head). Seems silly to have such a big head when I spend most of my year (8-9 Months) playing in my living room, and this summer seems like a waste because I had to cancel a bunch of playing dates for the rest of the summer because of my health stuff going on right now, but we played 2 nights and it sounded killer. I am looking forward to getting my NS-2 (most obvious statement ever) because I have a feeling it is going to sound even better than my NS-4 through the head.

I tried a bunch of amps (smaller than my SVT) and I kept returning them or selling them or not buying them, and my wife heard me say "It's okay, but it just doesn't sound like my SVT, nothing does" so she just said why don't you just get a SVT? I had all the reasons, its too big, too heavy, too everything, but that's what is cool about it, it's just over the top rock. It's big and ridiculous and when we started playing the first night it sounded killer and I saw the soundman running towards me. I knew it was way too loud, that's what is awesome about it. I turned down, I use in ears anyway (Off of the DI so I get the sound of the head) but so many complements on the sound and its "The sound" that is in my head.
We can't wait to hear your new NS-2 when you get it, thru the SVT! :D That's the stuff I lay awake at night hearing in my head. Lol

Anyone care to chime in with thoughts (good/bad/otherwise) on the NS-2JARs? Specifically, what's the neck profile like? I'm thinking that a white Spector should be in my future.

The nut on a NS-2JAR is 1.57
Standard Euros and USA's are 1.61
But the NS-2JAR neck, although smaller at he nut, it does flare out more so it will be wider at the 12th and 24th fret then a standard Euro.

The NS-2JAR neck is pretty beefy, so combine that with the flaring out and you got yourself a fairly big neck.
(Which we know some love and some hate)

The tone has a natural growl but it is a bit "thinner" from the 2 J's compared to the standard P/J setup.

Great bass.... They have a chunkier neck. I liked it tho. The string spacing is a little wider. My biggest beef with the JAR is the badass bridge, it is sharp and I would cut my hand on it, every time I played with a pick.

It is one of those basses that just oozes blues and funk, in my opinion. i wouldn't mind picking another one up for session work some day.

not to change the subject....

My mom starts chemo today. I know some of you have been through it before. If you wouldn't mind just saying a prayer for Rachel (my mom) today. My mom rocks and has always supported my music.

you can check out her Caring Bridge site and drop a kind word (many of you have and it really means a lot to her) http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/wonderwoman0420

a little ink I got to support:

I'm going to be selling my white JAR once I take the "USA 9v circuit" out and swap it with the EMG BT in my red euro. I'm somewhat local to you.....PM me if you are interested. It's a great bass ....

Jeff
