I am currently rockin' a Modulus. I really like the feel of it, and the tone will be there once I get the OBP put in, BUT I don't see me buying any other brand other than Spector from now on. There is just something about the overall awesomeness of a Spector that I just can't get over! :bassist::bassist::bassist:


The only things that might peak my interest would be a custom P-bass with a Jazz neck profile. :hiding:

I have a NOS white one I got off of Amazon. I gave it the full smadder set up(EMG X series short Js, BTC system/EXB combo in the back) because I found the BT to be a little mild in a Jazz configuration unless wired for 18v or you're using the x series pickups. But again, that's just to my ear. Opinions do vary. I'm so used to the punch of the PJ combo and the 40DCs, that two J's just seems a little too narrow, but once I switched everything out it became a whole different bass - very alive, very powerful.

The neck profile is amazing. It's dead center between a P and a J and a Stingray. If you could get those three necks to have a baby, it would be this neck. It's just thick enough to feel very "present" in your hand but thin enough to navigate without fatigue. Definitely a D shape rather than a more rounded C shape. It's one of the best bolt-ons Jazz style basses I've ever played. And this comes from a guy who just can't ever really get into Jazz basses; the JAR has it's own thing going on and it's fantastic.

So I tried my new (to me) BDDI at practice today. Holy crap.
I had it on the svt setting in the manual, and it absolutely smoked! Both the guitarist and the drummer said they liked my sound better with the sansamp on. Now I understand all the hype!

My God. My ears started hurting as soon as I saw the picture. That's just ridiculous.

I've been so focused on getting a rig that's light enough for me to carry given my physical limitations that I forgot that some people can still use The [DEL]Obelisk[/DEL] :rollno: MONOLITH (from 2001: A Space Odyssey for those who don't get the reference - that's what an Ampeg stack reminds me of) and not worry about needing surgery afterwards :rolleyes:.

I can't imagine how loud that entire rig must be. All those tubes glowing so lovely and setting one side to run dirty and then clean out of the other... Man. Okay, I gotta stop before I get a VERY unrealistic G.A.S. attack.

So I have to say I am enjoying the rebop! I play it overnight from midnight to 1am unplugged. I have minimal experience with the electronics yet as I have yet to really amp it up. I need to take some 800 grit sand paper to the back of the neck or a 3M pad and knock the gloss out of the neck finish formerly satin. That's all for now. Still looking for the ns2a......suddenly good ones are inclusive and craigslisters don't want to ship.....I can wait

Hey Joey! Awesome pic. Onething I noticed when I was over the other day. Both the streamer bass and the stage 1 sounded so much better on your svt than any of my amps I've owned. Everything sounded and felt so fat. I might become an svt covert very soon once the project is over!

Thanks Jon. Going to Chris's on Wednesday! I love SVTs. Except at 230 in the morning after the gig is done:rollno:. The Tech 21 products will get you there at a fraction of the weight. Though, sometimes there is no substitute for the air moving qualities of an 8X10.

And the coolest thing about it is that there's literally dozens of sweet spots, plus you can use it as a DI, a preamp, an overdrive pedal... it's just sweet. I love how it responds like a tube amp too = the harder you play, the more grind you get. It's just fantastic. I've had mine since 1999 and It's still perfect. I always use it at gigs as my DI when I am instructed not to bring my amp. And it's great in front of a DAW interface (like yesterday's Fast Track Pro deal on MF, my Tascam-US-100, etc.)

I always carry mine in the gig bag. I had Putnum guitars add a mid control and it made it all the better. (RBI in a box) I've had mine since the 90's sometimes. The blend control is key for me. I run it about 50-70%

Just wanted to say thanks to you guys for the bumps on the black cherry LX4 that's over on the classifieds. I really am grateful for the help and the kind words.

However, my shame is overwhelming me right now for saying Obelisk instead of Monolith. I will now begin a hunt for an image of the monolith to use as my avatar and retire my South Park Magneto as appropriate sentencing. Terrible, terrible, unforgivable mistake.
