If you're talking about the bass pictured above from the GC in Springfield, that's not a Legend Custom. They came with Quilted Maple tops or a Bubing Top on them.

Hi everyone in the Spector club! How are you?

I am a Warwick man, but my I have been offered a deal from Spector on their Czech Euro5 line (our manager is awesome) but I haven't played this exact bass before.

Is there anyone with experience with both a Warwick Corvette and Euro5 that can shed some light on what the Spector is like? Like a comparison i guess..

There are not any stores that have the bass locally so the first choice of going to try one is unfortunately not available.

I haven't been playing Spectors very long but I currently have a Warwick Thumb BO5 a Spector REX5 and as of a day ago a Spector Euro 4LX. Both the Spectors are neck thru and the Warwick is a bolt on. All three are top notch in fit, finish, quality of craftsmanship, sound, feel and looks. Of the three I find the Warwick to have a more vintage heavy metal or hard rock tone (i.e. Black Sabbath) to it and the Spectors I have both are more modern metal or hard rock tone (i.e. Alice in Chains). The two do overlap and both are capable of doing mellow as well as hard rock but the Spector just seems to have that extra oomph that my Warwick does not have. Keep in mind there are different Spector models and both of mine have the basic non trim tonepump vs the trip pot or the Hazlab or BQC or OBP-2 or BT preamps. Many in this club have experiences with those set ups and can chime in.
Again, both are great basses and both have their places. I see one as a compliment to the other, kind of like a P bass and a Jazz bass.
Just my humble opinion.

Yup, looks like a NS2005 to me. The brass nut is usually the tip off...great basses!!

Small world, I have a relative in Oslo. I am a Spector newbie but I have played a bunch of Warwicks. I've found the Warwicks have more of a high mid presence to my ears then the Spector Euro I have. I like them both but I could never get along with the weight of the Wicks but the unfinished necks were awesome. Give the Spector a try, they have unbeatable customer service as well. Just ask any of the guys here in the club.

The biggest difference is that Wicks are 34" scale and Spectors are 35", well the 5 string versions are, maybe 4's also?

As promised, pics for the new Spector Euro 4LX I just aquired... a beautiful Poplar burl / birds eye high gloss made around 2007ish in mint condition.
This one has what I assume is the non-trim tonepump (singular black rectangular epoxy filled block with no adjust screw and a vol, vol, treb, bass control layout). Sounds fantastic, plays great, has ultra low action and weighs in at 8 pounds.

That is a very dazzling grain! Beautiful!

Fellow Spector enthusiasts... I am posting here first to let you know that I am selling two of my Spectors. My US made 5 string fretless and my early CRFM 5 string custom finish. Unfortunately, my back can no longer deal with the weight. Lucky for me my NS-2O weighs in at around 9lbs. so it isn't gong anywhere. If you have any interest, send me a PM. Thanks.

This one has a P/DC configuration, but also comes with a DC for the front. Hipshot detuner with extended post, Straplocks, hex keys and HSC included.

This one has an EMG BT circuit, however, I have a Spector 18v circuit for it as well. I had planned to install it, but I ended up liking the BT in this beast. Straplocks, hex keys and HSC included.

Oh man BobUnit! your fretless is perfect for me! unfortunately bad timing! Argh!

My Forte 5 is up for sale officially. I paid $1499 for it from GC (their mistake - they priced it like a used Euro) and I upgraded the preamp to an all-EMG BTC/EXB combo. Its sounds amazing and I still can't believe the price I got it for, but it's a little too heavy for me and the neck profile is a typical Spector US profile which is a little too think for me. The only thing that makes this used is a light scratch on the face of the headstock and a very small ding on the underside of the horn. It will come with a new Spector hardshell case.

I'd like to get what I paid for it: $1499 plus $50 towards shipping (I will cover the rest which will end up being over $100) so $1550 anywhere in the US gets you a Spector USA Forte 5 (strung with new Sadowsky steels). If you live within 2 hours, we can skip the shipping charges and I will drive to meet you for delivery.

Here are the pics I have:

Please PM me if you're interested I'm putting it here and on the Facebook page before listing in the classifieds to give family members the first crack at it. It's a beautiful looking and sounding bass, but I cannot afford to keep it.

I got this e-mail yesterday. I would SO love to have a Pachyderm. Some rich person is going to help Les' brother a lot with medical expenses, and get an incredible bass. I assume CT is making these...Les said that they're being hand-made by "a friend".

I really don't, IMO, think that bass looks all that good. :scowl: Spectors leave that one in the dust easily.
