This s what I would think as well. I sold off a mint Forte 4 with the Hazlab preamp for $2100 and that's a significant upgrade cost.

I would offer less for sure, I think it would be around for a little while for that, if not I'd hold off for a better deal. Better deals come up fairly often if you can fight the addiction. IMHO

Combined with my Thunderfunk its the best small to mid size club rig I've played. I use my SVT-VR/Berg610 for the big stuff and love it also. It's also interesting to see a number of Spector players here have a lot of similar rigs. I use a GK MB210 combo for small stuff and practice as well, 32 pounds of easy hauling, a back saver compared to the SVT rig.

Yes, but so worth it. The entire rig weighs about as much as an SVT head & 8x10 cab.

Bass amps are supposed to be heavy.

Big Rig: GK 1001RBII > Epifani PS410

Small Rig: Mesa Walkabout > Mesa Scout 15 extension cabinet

Big rig: Ampeg SVTII 4x10 1x15
Small Rig: Ampeg v4b 4x10 1x15

The SVT II weighs 85 lbs
The V4b only weighs 80lbs

Serial Number 543.

Probably made in 1982.

The small routed hole under the bridge fits with the coil tap switch that was customary with DiMarzio pickups.
Stuart used DiMarzio pups before EMG. But Stuart decided to put EMGs in it.

USA 9v Circuit.
Leo Quan Badass I Bridge
Neck-Thru Design - Rock Maple Neck
Rosewood Fingerboard with pearl dot markers.
Swamp Ash wings, natural oil finish.

Trivia - Never sold. PJ Rubal picked it up from Stuart in 1995. It never had a truss rod cover so Stuart put one of the SSD covers on it.

An interesting example of a different design by Stuart. The heart of this bass, the neck and electronics is NS-2. The wings are what set it apart.

Very Saweet!!! Love that swamp ash grain and color! Seems like a few of the earlier NS basses had widder body bottoms...

Right on! That's more in-line with what used Fortes would be going for. I've never played a 4X before but I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on it. As I've said numerous times here, they will have to pry my Forte 4 out of my cold dead hands. They really are /that/ good.

Okay, I bought the reamer at Ace and it worked great for widening the holes for the EMC BQC. That's the good news.

Now, the not so good. I have everything installed and powered it up and I get sound, but its distorted and very weak. I replaced the battery. And it's still the same. Any ideas? Its wired at 9 volts. Could it be i need 18v? I have the EMG X series pickups.

Check all your work, The BQC in my LTD came 9 volt and I had to add the other 9. I am not sure about the EMG X but you can add the other nine just to make sure that is not the issue after you check your work. I only have experience with the DC's and they worked fine with 9V. Steve would be able to shed some more light on the EMG X, I know the white one I played he set up was pretty hot.

Yeah it's a sort of a theme with Stuart's earlier designs.

The SB-1 and the G-1 were very "bulbous"... but funny that the horns of the SB-1 are practically unchanged when Ned shaved the SB-1 body down to design the NS.

If you ever hold an SB-1 and NS-Bass side-by-side it's unmistakable.

Check all your grounds, all the cans need to be grounded also. You can't relay on the control cavity coating or the shield to do that for you, so look close...

EMG recommends not to run the X series at 18v.... like everyone said, check your grounds, all of your connections... te Jack could be bad.. I've ran into that, it was fine then i switched out electronics and the jack needed replaced

We are getting a new guitarist up to speed and going on the studio soon. Enjoying some down time and working on an instrumental project with a friend. Sometimes I don't miss loading in and out.

Hi all,
After going through the Spector Club threads and the Spector site for weeks and countless hours, I pulled the trigger and ordered my first Spector.
I had been communicating with Todd from GH for the last week from the recommendations I received here on this thread. Today I finalized my special order with him. He is a very cool guy to deal with. Thanks for recommending him to me. I am so looking forward to getting this Bass. I'm sure it will be a grueling 4 month wait but I'm sure it will be worth it.

No inlays on fretboard

I'm glad I started watching this super busy thread a few weeks ago cause I was close to ordering a Carvin Icon. Even though that would probably be a decent Bass, I don't think that the Carvin would satisfy my search for the right bass for me. I'm really hoping that this Spector will cure my GAS. Especially after watching all the inspiring Spector stories
