Jeff and I both have Thunderfunk 550B's. The timbre knob is awesome on these amps! I would like to try the new TB800 but dont have a spare $2000 laying around.........

I have the older Thunderfunk 420B connected to a Bergantino HT322 and it's as thunderous as the name implies. That timbre knob is like magic when it comes to quick tone shaping for specific room dynamics.

I use Markbass head and 1x12 Cab. But my favourite cab is Markbass NY604. Very mid-punchy, goes well with Spector.

The small routed hole under the bridge fits with the coil tap switch that was customary with DiMarzio pickups.
Stuart used DiMarzio pups before EMG. But Stuart decided to put EMGs in it.

Trivia - Never sold. PJ Rubal picked it up from Stuart in 1995. It never had a truss rod cover so Stuart put one of the SSD covers on it.

An interesting example of a different design by Stuart. The heart of this bass, the neck and electronics is NS-2. The wings are what set it apart.

FWIW I'm with you on the GK's going with Spectors the best IMO. Lots of nice grind and brightness.

OK now you guys have me interested in TF amps. Tough thing is it's not one of things you can just listen to clips of to decide I'm sure.

I see the 550B is not recommended for 2 ohm operation. Ideally I'd like a head I can run at 4 ohms, 2.66 ohms or 2 ohms. This allows me to use either one D410XLT at 4 ohms, a D410XLT 4 ohm + D210XLT 8ohm, or two D410XLT's 4 ohms each. Gives me a nice modular rig rather than having a "fridge".

I've been using my Eden since 1995 and currently use a WT550 which is very clean. I've been putting the MultiComp -> VT Bass -> B3K in front of it and I started getting the "your amp sounds awesome" comments from my bandmates who probably wouldn't normally notice the bass tone.

Maybe I'll see where I can try one locally.

Oh and I kind of raised an eyebrow to their suggestion for power cables. Hundreds of dollars for a power cable? I know the site says it will make the amps sound "50%-100%" better, but I am very skeptical about that.
