that's what I use on my basses!!! 40-60-75-95-120!!! I love'em!!!

I always used heavier strings until last month when I bought a used Forte 5 that came with light Sadowskys and a used MTD 535 that came with light DRs. Both basses are 35" scale. Life changing!

BUT light strings on a 34" scale are too floppy for me.

BTW, if anyone cares, Fodera Diamond Series stainless 40-120 strings sound killer on my Forte 5. They aren't crazy expensive either. The Sadowskys sounded equally good.

C# it is and .158 .118 .090 .067 .049 is going on the Rebop when I complete the refinish. I love the CK's, 8 months and going strong on these basses.

That's pretty much the exact set I am going to put on my Rebop when I get the money for the strings since they won't be very cheap. I might bump up the E string to a .124 though so I can do drop C but other than that, you and I are on the exact same page. It tends to jack up the price more though when throwing a custom string gauge in there so I am not too sure if I will do that.

I couldn't not do the 35-95 or 40-120 sets. I need the tension for the way I use my pick. Maybe if I played fingerstyle more or did any slapping those would make more sense.

I MIGHT use a pick for 1-2 songs a gig (if I remember where I left my pick!) but I totally agree with you. Super light strings and pick style isn't my favorite combo.

On another note, got the Plum Wimbish and the neck is crazy nice. I love the 1.5 nut and will be making sure that all my basses have that profile from now on. TP is a little different than I used to but, I will give it some time and still have to do a string change to a man's gauge

It took me a bit to get used to them, but now I can't go back to a thicker gauge!

Do tell what it is that you like about lighter gauge strings please.

Good to hear - I have three sets ready to go and if I like them I may just outfit all my Spectors with them.

Do tell what it is that you like about lighter gauge strings please.

I like the light gauges they tend to wake the bass up and makes the mid growl more present. I lose a little of that with the heavier gauges, not so much with the CK's. I play fingerstlye and hit the strings hard, so I like thicker strings to take out some of the fret clank and the triplets and runs are clearer. If I was a soft player or a slapper I would stick with a lighter gauge because that is the sound I associate with that style.

Funny - when I got that Forte 4 from Smadder last month it had I think 40-95's on it and I did not like them at all. Couldn't get a 45-105 set on there fast enough.

The bass and treble are kind of weird on the TP? Have to really crank the treble before it kicks in. Sounds good though with no eq running into Studio One. I know this one has the trim pot so someone explain what this does. I know Jaymi had adjusted it.

Trimpot adjust the overall gain....in a nutshell.........I believe. Most people claim to find their sweetspot between 40-60% If I recall...........

I need you to call and/or post the low down comparison between your kramer era ns-2 and the new Plum Wimbish.........eek!

I have to say, I am using a 5 string version of those on my Euro 5 LX but so far, I am not a fan. I need to do a good setup on the bass though since the gauges are so different before I give myself a final verdict but it's not looking good. I thought the Black Steels were supposed to have a higher tension but these are just not feeling like that and this bass had DR Hi Beams on it before.

That doesn't sound right to me. Maybe the trim pot is turned way down. I would put it at 50% then play with it a bit. most people like the TP set at 30-40% ... I run mine at 60% but play with a lot of right hand dynamics
