Then I can buy the two maybe three euro Spectors I currently want.....

Funny - when I got that Forte 4 from Smadder last month it had I think 40-95's on it and I did not like them at all. Couldn't get a 45-105 set on there fast enough.

I got my Forte 5 from j.karnodle but was owned by smadder prior to that and he put the light Sadowskys on it.

I didn't want to take those strings off!

Well you guys have at least clued me in that if I ever decide to make a stab at playing fingerstyle more often, I should try some lighter strings. I did notice I had a somewhat easier time with finger plucking on the Webster I got from Stern and that had a bit lighter strings on there.

After agonizing for weeks over this bass trying to justify another Spector, I gave into SAS over the weekend. Well, no regrets on pulling the trigger on this one. It's absolutely gorgeous!

Can you see the cluster of Alien faces by the neck? So cool! LOL

I like the light gauges they tend to wake the bass up and makes the mid growl more present. I lose a little of that with the heavier gauges, not so much with the CK's. I play fingerstlye and hit the strings hard, so I like thicker strings to take out some of the fret clank and the triplets and runs are clearer. If I was a soft player or a slapper I would stick with a lighter gauge because that is the sound I associate with that style.

Trimpot adjust the overall gain....in a nutshell.........I believe. Most people claim to find their sweetspot between 40-60% If I recall...........

I need you to call and/or post the low down comparison between your kramer era ns-2 and the new Plum Wimbish.........eek!

I'm actually debating putting on a set of those Sadwosky Blacks or DR Fat Beams right now. I have the latter in the mail and I love em' on my Euro LX.

The Sadowsky's I used before were great, but they seems to chew up the frets a little more than others.

I have gotten used to the 40-100 gauge and prefer it now to the "manlier" strings.

just FYI: the strings were Sadowsky Black label steel rounds on hex cores, .125 tapered b, /100, .80, .60, .40. light medium, but not as klight as Jaymi's D'addarrio sets.

Actually, John Deluca got a set off of me recently and was going to try it on one of his 5's... John, what are your thoughts on the Sadowsky black label steel lights with a tapered 125 B?

I had light DR Hi Beams (40-120 which is an odd combination as most DR lite sets are 40-125) on my MTD and they sounded/felt amazing!

Ok I'm now bummed, I took my son upstairs for his nap and when I came down stairs I thought I heard a truck. So I said must be Fedex with the pre I ordered. Yeah... well looked outside and he was driving away. Opened the door and he had the little sticker on it. ***.... He didn't even ring the doorbell. So I call the Fedex and told them what was up and they said got to wait till tomorrow. I think I'm gonna give him a good kick in the teeth. That really sucks lol
