So I bought this Kramer NS-2 a while back kind of knowing I may have to sell it to cover some bills when stuff started getting heavy, but I have a question/favor to ask of all of you.

I have fallen in love with this Kramer NS-2 and I would love to be able to keep it, but something has to go.

So I talked with Jeff and Steve to make sure they were okay with it but wanted to ask all of you also and get your blessing to put up the Ian Hill for sale (I have the perfect person in mind) so that I can keep the Kramer.

Jeff said he wants me to have the better bass, the one I want and to him he knows it would be the Kramer. The big thing is I don't want anyone to think I am not appreciative because I am more appreciative than you will ever know. Here's the thing: one person who did this for me has the smallest problem with it, I will not do it and put the Kramer up intead. If you have any problem with it at all, please just IM me, no reason needed, and I will not sell it.

Dude. You need to play what makes you happiest. Period.

The Ian Hill was more a symbol of our brotherhood with you and if asked I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't sell a Euro (any Euro) before giving up a near-pristine Vintage USA Spector.

You and your family are going through an unimaginably difficult time. And you have my full support to do whatever you need to do to take care of your family, your bills... Most of all in this difficult time you also owe it to yourself to hold on to something that makes you happy.

I totally agree with Jeff, you deserve the better bass. And since it was his incredibly generous discounting of that bass that made the "let's show Chris what it means to be Spector family" idea possible; if Jeff and Steve (who worked so incredibly hard to pull everything together) are good with your decision I dare say no one here should have a problem with it.

I sure don't. You and I both have talked about this... that we know first-hand that life is fickle and there are no guarantees that there's even going to be a tomorrow.

So keep the bass your heart sings for and sell the other to take care of your bills, and never give it a second thought.

What we did for you wasn't about a bass, it was about fellowship and caring for someone who is our "brother" through Spector. Rest easy. Don't loose a moment's sleep over it.

Just do what you promised and fight and stay strong... beat this thing that took your father from you and don't let it take you from your family. They need you. Your students need you. This club needs you.

Well I got my HAZ copy setup with 25K volume pots to handle the active emg's.
I had to splice some wires so it could all run off the 9v, added a gold output jack, and straightened up some of the stock wiring. Still not 100% done, just waiting on some screws for the rear control plate and a Gold bridge.

Here's a tiny sneak peak:

What bass is that going on??

Okay, so for the last week my "blood numbers" have been down, which means I have no immune system. I have not been able to go to work far about a week and a half. On Friday my dad passed away, it of came out of nowhere, he was fine when I went through Chemo 2 weeks ago and went down hill within 2 weeks.

Through fighting all this stuff, I am now out of sick days, which means that this week when I can't go to work, no paycheck, so something has to go to cover medical expenses, living expenses and tickets home for Dad's funeral.

Okay, not telling you this to make you feel even more sorry for me, to tell you the truth it has kind of given me more strength to fight harder, my mom and sister and family can't lose me and my dad.

Geez, that's rough. Keeping you and yours in my thoughts, and sending good vibes your way. I hope things work out for you.
And a big +1 for everything JPS said.

Do what you need to do. We support you no matter what. In essence you are also giving up the white Spector. Once it's yours, do whatever you want with it. If you sell it and the funds go towards your family's needs, who are we to say otherwise?

We got your back Chris!

What bass is that going on??

Not a great pic, but here's the newly upgraded NS-2A. Can't wait to complete it with the gold bridge. Note the upgraded knobs, I had to modify them a bit to fit the tone controls, but they turned out great. I'll get a full glamor shot once she's all done.

Chris, My deepest condolences for your loss. You've got enough going on you don't need to worry about us. Keep what makes you happy!

First Chris...my heart deep condolences for your and family's loss of your dad. That's really tough to deal with let alone with you fighting for your life. I lost my dad 9 days after they discovered cancer in him, a year ago.

Second...Chris it was the thought from all of us that made the Ian Hill bass possible as a gift to you that really counts, an expression of our love and caring to you. I believe you should keep the bass that'll make you feel better mentally & physically. Whatever your heart desires is what you should do. I have no problem with what you decide. Thank you for bringing it to our attention that you have a need. Besides, you still have all the great swag to remember everyone by! :)

Get well and get better Chris! That's what matters the most, inner healing, mentally and physically. Peace be with you brother! :bassist:

Chris - I'm a new guy around here and hopefully, I'm not out of line saying this...you've got a lot of heavy stuff to deal with and the last thing you need to worry about is what anyone in these threads thinks. Your posts, along with the awesome videos, reviews, bass banter and stuff that gets bumped around in these threads is what gets me to check in on a regular basis. I hope you're getting your strength together ASAP! And in the meantime, my thoughts go out to you and your family as you all deal with all of this.

+1 to keep the Kramer and make anything possible for you you to feel better. Sending good vibes and best wishes to you Chris.

Since there were a couple questions on the tone of the SpectorCore when I posted a pic of mine, I thought I'd share a YouTube video I found that really highlights its tone shaping capabilities. The one in the video is not fretless, but if you imagine a beautifully level fingerboard with lots of mwah and a chorusy vibe, you'll get the idea. Enjoy!

Worded perfectly. You do whatever you need to do. I don't see anyone having a problem with this at all.

I say whatever makes this process easier and better for you Chris. You've gone through more lately than anyone should ever go through.
You got my blessing to do as you feel necessary for you to heal!! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Agreed - don't even sweat it Chris. If we could have been donating towards an NS-2 we would have so to me it's no different at all using that one to get to the next level. Hang in there man!

Good bunch here.

I just got home from a Halloween gig and was going to post how excited I am about how my Forte 5 sounded.... Meh.

The above recent posts made me realize that we are just talking about "stuff". Guitars, houses, cars, etc.... Don't mean crap if you don't have family and/or health.

Lots of things are more important than a bass in the grand scheme of things.

Hope things turn around for you, Chris. I will be praying for you and your family.
