Mine are mostly in the center detents. I'll roll back the treble a tad for less bite and roll up and out of the treble detent for Eddie Jackson. To me, the magic is in the treble knob....especially on these Kramers. Holy cow.

Its like a treble/midrange knob.....

I was trying to say that if Chris is going to be playing in an apartment for a few months, does he really need 250 Watts though? When 50-100 Watts would be plenty. That's all. Nothing more.

I think he needs 2000 watts!!!...j/k..haha

You guys are making me jealous and boasting my S.A.S. for a NS-2 Kramer, with this talk.

Anyways I believe today is NBD for me!!!......and later time we will discuss a 4 way trade/buy involving over $10,000 worth of money and gear!!!....we are talking Kramer, Euro, Woodstock, Steinberger, and maybe an SSD Spector and plenty of cash going different directions!....TO WAR!!!

Yes, I am on the hunt for another at the moment. I was going to order a white Wimbish, but that can wait. At least till the 9v get off of backorder.

Where were you??...We had 3 Kramers in discussion but the deal is almost complete, awaiting on passing physical.

I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on an NS-2, and while I'm leaning towards "new", I'm torn between a Woodstock or a Kramer-era.

Cant loose either way!!...To me the Kramers have just a pinch more bite. The biggest difference I notice is the fretboard on the Woodstock gets pretty close to the p pickup. Less room for your fingers when popping the strings. Again, can't loose either way!!!

I have to agree with you....I do prefer solid state amps with active preamps than tube heads with active preamps....but some guys love carrying around heavy heads and changing tubes....

I changed my avatar because I carry around tube amps and change tubes.

As far as rarity goes,maybe it's worth this to a collector? Maybe Patrick or Sam could chime in on this?

On a personal note, I find this bass unattractive......that is all.

I'm a NS guy. But actually, this bass this bass looks cool to me. Not so crazy about the headstock.

Thanks guys! Yup it was the one on ebay. Paid a bit more than I wanted, but SAS was killing me and I really wanted a red NS-2. I'm totally happy that I pulled the trigger on this one!

From what I can figure, this might have been one of the ones started in Brooklyn but finished under Kramer. Serial # is 1074 which puts it at 1986.

I must have missed out on all the code talk. I'll make sure that I will be in on the next Kramer movement. Or, if anyone feels like they need to let one go just let me know. Got the cash set aside. I was looking at a blue one that is available now but I'm gonna pass, it's pretty much like the blue that I have and a little too neglected.

Hey Chris,

As the caretaker of a '73 SVT I certainly hope you do not have to sell it. To answer your question, yes, I think the MB800 is that good but for your scenario I would honestly think about trying the diminutive MB200 and here's why:

1. It is ridiculously loud at 200W (4 ohms)
2. Headphone jack
3. Aux in feature
4. Price (you can get them on here for $150-175)
5. Good ole GK tone

I don't know if you've played GK or not but being an SVT guy it will sound a tad different. I like both tones (GK and Ampeg) each for what they are. Also, being a SS amp you can just use it as a headphone monitor and it doesn't need to be hooked up to a speaker. I realize you probably know all this but just saying in case you don't.

The MB500/800 doesn't have an aux in for playing along with tunes but it does have a headphone jack.

You want me to send you my MB200 to see if you like it?

ps. You may also want to check out TC's BH250. That looks like a fun micro with the toneprint feature. That'd be fun to mess around zapping those toneprints from your phone to the head.

i just went through the same dilemma. i watched lots of vids on both and i physically remember the tone that gk had. i couldnt quit playing it in guitar center. then i went to the ampeg svt4 pro and 8x10, played for 30 seconds, turned it off, when back to the gk and played it some more. just awesome tone hope it helps

He said he also wants to use it with his band afterwards. Admittedly I'm a GK guy, but I would have to think that coming from a massive ampeg rig like chris has to the smaller ampeg amps, wouldn't add up to his tonal requirements.

I think switching brands would allow him to refind his tone... a mb200 and 210 cab would IMHO be a nice transition.

I am by no means an amp expert.

But I am very happy with my GK MB200 and 2X10 cab.

Yeah, I just need to go to Guitar center and try them out. I don't need much, but I would like to be able to use it this coming summer too, so maybe I will check out the 500 and 800 watt models. I would like to play through the Aguilar also.

What I dislike about my SVT is what I love about it, it's absolutely ridiculous. You walk in the front door of our house and the first thing you see is this 8-10 cabinet with the SVT sitting on top. Ridiculously awesome. I like to set the tone for guests as they enter LOL. Then just to the left is the signed poster from Stuart with my Kramer (and a sad other stand waiting for it's Woodstock born big brother...) If I can keep the SVT I would love to, and maybe the smaller GK would be good and I could swing it. Thanks for the advice as always fellas! This is the best place to come for advice on just about anything. Now I have this little rash...

There's nothing like an aged Spector and at a fraction of the price of new. If I had it to do over, and had I realized Kramer era NS-2's were less than a new Forte 4, I'd bought a Kramer. Ill be on the hunt for a Kramer at the end of this month.
