If DT were based in Atl and needed a bassist, I'd be serial killing to get at the front of the line to audition :hiding:. And then, you know... afterwards as well, just in case it went to someone I missed before their audition :p.

When do we get to buy all the tracks/CD? I need to be able to have this in my car and iPod badly.

My friends are in love with it. It just makes me happy like all good music should. You guys really better be proud - you earned the right to strut with this.

I have the old-style bridge with offset saddle screws on my Euro 5LX. Questions are,

Why are they offset like that?
Should they be adjusted so the saddle is level, forward tilted or backward tilted?
If tilted, then how much tilt should they have?

Thanks in advance, I appreciate the knowledge you guys have.

I prefer these bridges and have just a slight backwards tilt and it works for me. I like the saddles to have a even gradual lift as it goes up the bridge. I really dislike the newer style that has the saddles all jacked up. I ressed the bridge on mine so it would flow with the bass better. The euro bridges are softer and the strings cut in pretty good.

Paging Patrick... from Spector the saddles are angled up. I have set mine up that way and with the saddles flat.

all knobs are not at there "big rig" settings...

wireless > tuner > EBS Multicomp > MXR bass Octave > MXR bass auto Q > T-Rex Sweeper > Hartke Bass Attack

I haven't had a chance to mess with the sweeper pedal, but it is pretty awesome so far.

A big thanks to Smadder for all the help. I'm glad we went with this size board... ;)

At some point, experiment with the filter and distortion. I like the distortion going into the filter so that its a part of the signal being manipulated. Youll get a synth ire more aggressive attack with that. But since you've got two od/dist pedals, you could have both at the same time and see which you like better. Or a combination of all three may get you a tone to use somewhere. But it's awesome Donny.

ya I was doing that with the red llama clone (not on the board right now) its pretty cool. funny thing is, I don't really use the preamp on the Hartke (thus no distortion) since adding the compressor. I simply use the "shape" which boosts whichever frequency you want. So I was able to set the EQ on the preamp for certain big intro's where the bass is a bit more bass heavy... sooo much fun to play with. I could easily see added more pedals... but I could also see not needing any others...

Thanks soo much steve... I just want to play VERY loudly with the new board :bassist:

Dude, it was my pleasure. I'm just glad you're stoked and had the balls to go straight to a gig after only one time around with the board in rehearsal. That means we're on the same page, so long distance tech'ing really can work, albeit in a limited fashion. Plus, selfishly, it's just fun.

Just shout with questions or problems Donny. But you've got the right attitude and approach, and you're starting off with really quality gear. I got to hang out with earth to Andy back when I was in VA and their guy had nothing as solid and high end as you. He'll, even Rex just has a small board with a couple of pedals on it. You get to start out with a far more intermediate level pedal rig. If you land some kick ass Dunlop endorsement one day, you can switch out for some different stuff in the same quality... But honestly, there are pros who don't get as far as you do now. But as of now, once the chorus gets in, you'll be set for a while. The rest will just be tweaking and experimentation. Don't bother with PAS; you need your time and money (look how clever Steve is) for being a Dad, husband, and all the other hats in your life.

Again, that's what is so awesome about this club: one of us needs something or even just gets jammed up with a question, there are so many generous, brilliant and good hearted people on here. I know it doesn't make the Spectors we love any different, but I know it adds a lot of confidence and just plain joy to have a community behind you if you need help. Sam, Jaymi, Jamie, Patrick, John, Mike, Tony, Dave, Bassie, Ice, Supes, Fat420, Chuckles, Uncle Jeff, Jim, Bunk, Lee, Chris... I could keep going for a while. But there's rarely a time when someone won't drop what they're doing to help a brother out.

All of that goes with you. From my perspective, psychologically speaking, it adds confidence and a kind of safety net... It's an extra layer to the foundation of your musicianship that I've never seen happen with anything else.

It makes that Spector thing even better than it already was. This place is great. It's made a difference for me, that's for sure. And that ethic of help is something the rest of the world could use more of, never mind just Spector players.

You guys all just kick ass. I actually gave thanks to you at the table for thanksgiving dinner (yeah I just had some Gatorade and a shake, don't worry) with my family. They said that was one of the more amazing things they've ever heard.

We all kick a respectful amount of ass around here. I think, especially given the season, we deserve to pat each other on the back for that.

Today is a rainy, grey day. I was resting up for some traveling/gigs that are coming up. I decided to check in with the Spector gang and I read this post. I was reminded, yet again, that Spector players come in all flavors. All flavors of generous and cool and caring and selfless. I don't think I've ever been a part of a group of people so willing to help each other. Steve, you are a huge part of why I feel like this and I want to give you and the rest of my Spector family a cyber hug of gratitude. I remember recently, having just got my Forte4 back from refinish and not having the time to set up an appointment with my tech. I just invited myself to Sam's house to soder my preamp so I could play the bass at rehearsal. Sam, in typical Sam fashion, was willing to sacrifice his time to help a brother out, and did a pro quality job of it and an awesome setup. :bassist: or Jeff up in Massachusetts, who totally went above and beyond to help me score a fantastic Euro. I could go on,some fine folks around here. I like em!

Ok, I got the Mesa M6 in today and unboxed it. When the Aguilar tone hammer 500 gets here I will plug them both in and use my Spector to run them through the gambit! Spector pictured below....

Folks,

I need help and advice as to which strings I should put on my Forte 5er.:bassist:

Happy problem.... I have 2 sets of amazing Fodera Diamond Series .040-.120 light strings.... One set is Stainless Steel and the other is Nickel. Bass is currently strung with light Sadowskys.

Which would you prefer on a Spector 5er and why?

Well depends on what you play? If you slap and pop, steels. Finger style is nickel for me. A lot of pick players prefer steels. I like nickel personally however those Sadowsky steels sound nice to me!
