If you decide to go with Gotoh's instead of the schallers I think you will need to route the holes bigger based on this diagram.

Thanks, Sam. I just emailed PJ to see if he could point me/us in the correct direction. It seems like the kind of thing that that should sell along with the bridges on the site. I'll report back on what I find out.

UPDATE: (I love that I can email a totally random question to PJ, and have a comprehensive answer in my inbox 12 minute later. Try that with /any/ other vendor, but I digress.) :bassist:

Schaller tuners can be confusing! here you go:

M4
original version. this is what we used from the beginning mid 1970's thru early 1990's.
set screw faces the center of the headstock, from the corner of the tuner.

in 2000 Schaller decided to change this tuner design. and to keep it interesting, they continued to make both LOL.

M4 2000
same as above except set screw faces down toward the neck.
also I have seen versions with slightly diff shaped tuning part (the part you turn, sorry it's still early).
we use these on our modern EuroLX basses.

both use the same size headstock hole. this is not the same as Gotoh uses.

shaft length is the same.

I suggest watching ebay, etc for an original set, so you can use the same set screw hole. also dealers such as allparts.com, etc who carry Schaller receive both versions with each shipment....but do not necessarily change their example pic on their site.

Little late, seems that you have gotten your answer.

Congrats on the bass sales Jamie, If I had any cash left I would get that red custom from you. It was my fav of yours that I played.

Sometimes when installing new strings, the entire length of the string can get a little twisted. this can cause a string to sound dead. Simply loosen the string, and hopefully it will begin to untwist. Tune it back up and see what happens.

I've had this happen with my bass a few times. I hope this helps you.

I tried this, and I also checked the break angle. The angle can't be changed by pushing to try to seat the string, but seems to be coming over more round than sharp.

Could just be a bad string, when I was using SIT strings I had several experiences like this. It was mostly the A string with those strings. You can order a single replacement of the same brand and size and see if the string is the issue.

Looks like I'm in for another order from BassStringsOnline. -_-

Maybe I'll have my tech do a once-over on it. He's usually good for providing tweaks & advice at no cost.

Thanks Mike! People really don't know what the red custom shop is really worth....oh well! I need to find a replacement to my liking quick before my wife finds a way to spend this on Christmas or something....lol

Last night was my first run with it and I didn't use any but I plan on trying it out. Seems like it will be cool to cut some of the super sub frequencies

That pedal is hands-down awesome!!!! It is by far the best filter pedal I have owned. Six presets, tons of tweaking and sounds, Even has a phaser on it, And I have hot hand capabilities... It rocks!!!
I used to have the multi wave based distortion pedal as well. It was really cool too but I don't use dirt very much

I'm really looking forward to the synth pedal that source audio is developing

Let me know what settings you come up with. I have a cut some subs out but, I can't remember what I have it set at. I'm at work till 11:30 tonight then I have all of Dec to get it where I want it.

Man, I would love to have it. My current project is draining the rest of my funds and I have just joined up with some local guys to do an all acoustic metal act. Kind of like FFDP The Bleeding and stuff like that. So, I need to find a small cab to carry around for that. Maybe a powered Berg into the Monique pre:bassist::bassist:

This group is awesome! I just got a little care package with some picks some Dava picks and Gravity picks.... I am very excited to try them all out... o and these awesome picks!!

Chris (Loe)... you are a good friend, scratch that, a great friend! Its cool that such seasoned bassists are soo supportive of someone like me
