I have an NS-2J - It's a beautiful bass, and your 50/50 split assessment on the sound is pretty accurate. It's also loud. Really loud. The bolt on Spectors seem to have more snap to my ears than the neck through Spectors. They cut through the mix better, and this one is no exception. It's not as dark as the neck throughs, however,

It has a tone pump - been considering going Aggie, but I play my 5ers more than this one. The neck is amazing. Really fast, very easy to get around on.

Because of the no pics-no bass rule, here it is.

I have a US BO fretless with EMG Jazz pickups and an OBP-3 heading my way mid of next month. There is going to be a bit of a difference in tone because of the lack of frets, but I anticipate it to be awesome in every way!!! :bassist:

I'm pretty sure ubnomnar just picked up a 4 string US BO with jazz pickups...you might want to shoot him a PM and see what he has to say! :bassist:

For some reason, I thought he was talking about a coda. I have no experience with that bass.

That's a beaut!!!! It looks like that one has the rosewood neck option too! :bassist:

Well, you were still right. It has a jazz-y edge/growl to it, but it's definitely still a Spector. Like comparing a Rebop to a Euro. Brighter, but with some Jazz flavor mixed in.

If he was talking Coda, I can't answer from experience, but there are a ton of Namm Coda demo videos linked to the Spector Site.

Yep - that's pretty much the one (not a coda). I assume your's is a bolt on. I also assume the Aggie OBP3 will allow it to get a little darker than a tonepump, are those fair assumptions?

Correct - it's a bolt-on. I'm assuming the Aggie will do that, but I'm not sure yet if I will make the switch.

Mine is a little non-standard though - It has a mahogany body, rosewood neck and pau ferro fingerboard, so I guess my results are not typical.

Gig Report: Spector NS-2 KILLED. Very clear, and big sounding on every note. Coming from playing Fender styled instruments, I hit a few clams when I was really rocking out as the Spector just feels a little longer due to how it sits, but no biggie.

Oh and it was just wicked in Drop D!

Figured I'd ask you guys this, since you're generally a great help.

I put a set of GHS Precision Flats (Long+ scale 45-65-85-105-126) on my 2006 Spector Rebop 5DLX.

I love the tone of the EADG strings, and can finally turn up the TonePump EQ a bit without it getting harsh on the highs. BUT the B string is lacking root definition & sustain. It just feels dead & thunky. It's not floppy, though. My previous strings (DR Black Beauties) weren't like this.
The fat part of the string is just at the point where it's touching the post (just how the string sits due to length) , and it seems to be seated in the nut correctly. The bridge angle hasn't changed, and it's seated well there, too. Would a shorter B string that doesn't make contact with the post solve the issue?

Any suggestions? I'd really hate to be out cash on a set of strings just because the B isn't working out.
