Thanks for the heartfelt concern. I'm in constant pain. Which will work on you after a while. So perhaps my fuse is a little shorter than normal. I have back surgery #3 on Thursday. So here's to that working. Thanks for asking. I will be fine.

As for the other. Harsh? Perhaps in the context of my past reactions. But I stand by what I said.... do what you feel is right. Just leave me out of it and own it if you mess up.

Good luck with the operation. Personally I just got sliced up back in May on my back. Work related injury, took 2 years just to get the operation. Injections, therapy, pain meds( which only help a little bit for me). I wish and pray for the best for you.

Come-on... as many Spectors as you've turned over the last several months? You never keep one for more than a couple of months and any time you can get one and turn it for a profit; you're all over it.

There's nothing wrong with that. But you should stop playing coy. That's what gets people offended.

You have a very distinct and predictable pattern so the "who me?" thing only insults people's intelligence.

Just keeping it real. I'm a very nice guy but don't mistake that for stupidity. And shame on you if you think you can play me.

And no. I don't endorse your used bass business. Yours or Smadders. You guys want to get basses in trade and sell them for a profit... great. But understand that if those sales go south or there's a problem with the bass you've just sold, nice comments and "hey buddy, buddy" isn't going to get me to lift a finger to help you.

And please don't pretend that because we talk or I did a video with you that I'm OK with your used bass business. I'm fine with it so long as you don't try to take advantage of the trust and fellowship that's been built on this board.

For the record I do not endorse or support what you do as a private party regarding the trading, buying or selling of basses.

So please do not associate me with your shenanigans.

If you were wondering why there's a bunch of people on this board that are wary of you; this is why.

Everyone here already sees that you're going to trade something that's worth less than what you're getting and you're going to sell or trade what you get for more than you have in it.

Horse trading, wheeling/dealing, there's a lot of things you can use to describe it. And again, there's nothing wrong with it so long as you're up front about it.

Let's stop playing the games and just be out in the open about it. That way everyone is on the same page.

You're an opportunistic predator. And hey, most really good salesmen are. But there are a lot of people here on this board that look to one another for fairness and trust. Which is why I think you're going to find fewer and fewer people here that are willing to entertain your not-so-upfront sales techniques.

Just keeping it real. I've worked really hard, as have many others... to cultivate a sense of fellowship and brotherhood on this board. And people who would take advantage of that trust for their own personal gain disgust me.

And I'm not going to just keep quiet about it.

I generally don't chime in on these kinds of things but ^^^this^^^ is out of line. If you have issues with how others conduct themselves, take it to PM.

We're better than this in the Spector club. :scowl:

Thanks. How are you now? I've been dealing with this for almost 6 months and it's driving me a little crazy I think.

All beautiful basses! Welcome back! :) The Modulus Q5 FB looks a bit wider than the Spector 5r! :bassist: It's nice to be busy gigging! Wish I could say the same...:hmm:

Thanks! It's good to be back. I think I'll stick around for a while. Good eye. The Modulus actually has a 6 string neck. Great for slapping...not so great for everything else. It still sounds great, but I use my Forte for 95% of our show. I am certainly grateful for the opportunity to play as much as I do. The fact that I actually make real money doing it is just icing! :bassist: I've had some really awesome basses, but my Spectors just keep rolling along wherever I go!

From where I sit you guys can do whatever you like. I think I said, there's nothing wrong with buying telling trading. Just do not involve me in it. You had an upset customer last week overthe tuning of a bass. And your posts looked to if were pointing your fingers at the Spector website. The buyer was thinking the website was confusing and he'd been mislead. And you invite him to contact me to fix the issue. It confused the issue. Which is in a private party sale.... it's between the private parties. Was someone done wrong? Not as long as you make your customer happy. And that's for you to do. Just don't involve me. You sell something as this or that... it needs to be what you say. that's all.

Dude seriously, I like you and all, but i dont think Steve did anything intentionally wrong and I think he was trying to use you as an information source and not someone to place blame on or expect to fix a problem, he just isnt like that. Steve has done more and helped more than most on this forum, and i think a pm to him would have been more appropriate than trying to drag his name through the mud.

Thanks for your opinion and I don't want to be confrontational. But I was brought into a private matter publicly in this thread last week and had to sort through what was what.

And if you don't publicly state your position on some things, people will never know where you stand.

In the wake of last weeks experience... The statement you find offensive is my public announcement that I am not involved in anyone's sales transactions. That the wheeling and dealing that goes on isn't anything I have a part of. And just because someone knows me, talks to me, etc... doesn't mean that they can speak for me.

I do not endorse what anyone does in a private sale. A private sale is a private sale. It's between two individuals. And unless I'm one of those two individuals, it has nothing to do with me.

Let me ask you this:

Have I ever been anything but supportive of this group?

Have any of you ever been told by me that I wouldn't help you if you asked for help?

Have I not been here, for years, helping build this into a great community (along with countless others)?

And do I just run around attacking people randomly?

Read between the lines.

I said my peace. Let the thread get back to the happy place it should be.

For the record, I, ME, DONNY SILVA, brought you up in the conversation. not to "fix" the issue, but to clear up the confusion that was being caused from a new member who couldn't get a B string to fit properly. I asked you to clarify what Spector's policy was on how these basses came set up. Nothing less, nothing more I didn't say you would fix anything. But merely clear up what spector does.

The price sheet is very clear, the website is a little confusing. Not a big deal, no upset "customers" simply a confused Spector player. it really isn't a big deal.

Please feel better and I hope the next surgery goes well. Blame me for anything not Jaymi and Steve.

Hi. For what it's worth from a non-member, who asked the dumb questions.
From my perspective, Steve and Patrick are both great standup guys, and your club/community is a great place, which will go forward like gangbusters as always. You all challenge the ability of the TB servers to keep up;) Just to clear the air a little?
I first contacted Smadder regarding the Forte 5 he was selling, after getting one from Guitar Center at a deal price, and he offered to pass it on at a great price, (same as he paid for it). I was like 3rd in line by the time I PM'd him. He let me know that the 1st position guy in the deal payed and the bass was sold. He then told me he got payed in gear by a company that he does computer work for that has Amazon credits. He offered me a Euro 5LX that was on order, but the delivery date kept getting pushed out.
After weeks of this delay, Steve apologized profusely, and told me he would sell me his own 5 string Euro, as he was frustrated at disappointing me.
Keep in mind, at this point, I was someone that he owed absolutely nothing to! Just a guy he was trying to satisfy re: my Spector curiosity.
Then his long awaited US 9 volt circuits finally arrived, and he asked if it would be OK with me if he kept his 5ver and tried to find me another deal so he could mod his 5ver. Sure I said. (as if he had to ask permission)
Fast forward to when Steve had the blue Euro 435lx BEAD, and the black Ian Hill for sale. I had to contact him re the 35" 4 string, as he was considering me for 5vers only. He told me sure, it's yours if you want it but don't Paypal me till I get home from Thanksgiving w/the family and can send you pics. Anyway I bought it and it arrived in pristine condition, only issue was 5 string sets did not fit and you all figured out for me that it was a 35" EADG nut version. I just was not sure yet that there was not some Spector specific light gauge or tapered string that fit on this BEAD , so I was just trying to figure it out. I posted, and you pros responded.
Enter Patrick, who let me know in no uncertain terms that if a 105 E fit snug in the nut then that was what I bought. And then He kindly offered to send me a BEAD nut that he had in his personal stock. Once again being generous to someone who he owed nothing to, and was probably at that point a thorn in his side, saying the website was confusing!
So I just want to say that Smadder is a generous unrelenting Spector promoter and good will ambassador , and Patrick is a generous company Rep, who made a kind offer to a 2nd hand buyer, that the company owed zero to. In the words of one Glen Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?"

I'm getting dizzy from all this arguing!

Here's a question posed to me by my guitarist. I'm planning to swap out my EMG 40HZ in my Rebop for a 40P5 and a 40J, and the TonePump for an EMG BQC or USA 18V. I'm also swapping the bridge to one with intonation screws.

I'm going to be left with the guts from my ReBop, and I have an old Fender MIM P-bass that has a bad J-bass Bridge route & is gutted. What do you guys think about putting the 40HZ's, the TonePump & bridge in my P? Give it a Fender Rebop kind of flair. Think it would sound similar?? I know the pickups are oversized, but I'm going to have to cover the bad bridge route with a 4" pick-up anyways...

I agree with this guy!....and on another note, The Bible says you can only have 1 Master!!:bassist:

scratch the last line "Enter etc" as I am a crappy editor. And kudos to worshiprocker who answered my questions succinctly and said "no clutter".
Really guys, you all are huge assets to Spector! Back to the love fest! Please! I strung this bad boy with EADG compression wound GHS.
As I always do I am playing it w/o plugging in. The true test of wood and dead spots etc. I love the neck profile, no dead spots and the 35" scale is great for EADG. I have pterodactyl arms anyway. 34's feel like short scale.
I don't wax poetic until something stands the test of gigging. But since my band is local clubs/parties whatever, that might be a couple weeks. Thanks to everyone who helped!

Welcome to the addiction man! :bassist:
Seems like your entrance has been quite a noticeable one! Haha, but really, this club is full of great, knowledgeable people as you've already noted. Enjoy the new bass!

Exactly, and you went the extra mile and offered me a solution, from your personal stash, that put you and therefore Spector in the top 5 of companies i.e. Genz Benz etc that bend over backwards to make everyone happy. :) Thanks!
