I got it in on Monday and I worked on it a little yesterday during lunch. Anyway you can see the blue from the bondo underneath the white primer. The paint appears to be enamel which makes me think that whoever painted it painted cars or something. Fortunately it only seems to be on the top of the bass and the enamel comes off very easily. Seems that the bass was blue to begin with and other than the top is still intact under all the primer. I can't figure who in there right mind would paint over that beautiful flame.

Odd, I'm thinking the bluish color you see might be a primer of sorts? Comes to mine that its that blue grey, then the white base and the candy red enamel? Anyone else have thoughts on "car finishing?" I can't imagine ......bonds? Good lord.....poor LIL Spector!

I did some research & my TonePump won't have the internal gain control. It's a 2006. From what I've found on the TonePump circuit, this gain control was not added until 2008.
This also rules out the option of running it as an 18v circuit.

I guess I'm left with getting a US 18v or an aftermarket, like an Aguilar OBP-2 or EMG BQC.

Not quite.
Only the very, very earliest TP's had the voltage doubler that prevents them from being run with 18 volts.
If you have one that is late 2002 or newer, you will be OK.
2006? You are waaaaay in the clear. :D

Oh, it is definately not a primer. Quite difficult to sand through.

By February, I hope to have gold tuners, knobs & Euro5 bridge with intonation screws, EMG 40P5 & 40J pickups, and (if the 18v TonePump mod doesn't work) either an Aguilar OBP-2 or Spector US 18v pre-amp.

This is good to know. Is there a guide somewhere explaining how to convert my TonePump to 18v?

Good news, based on that Ser# NB2643
That appears to have been one of the Guitar Center Blueburst Euros from 2003. Which means you got yourself a solid maple body. :hyper: :bassist:

I am pretty sure that is an older Performer, hard to tell from the photo. The body appears flat and more squared then a legend and it also appears not to be a legend bridge and the Spector logo is in that yellowish color.

Still a decent deal if someone was looking for a different type of color.

Yeah def a Performer and not a Legend.
Still, $129? That's like, new Squier money lol.
