Clips overload today! :D

Ordered strings from bassstringsonline (run by a super-cool TBer) so I can string up my NS-X with the same type of DR strings as my 2A and 20004 so I can get an accurate tone comparison when I record clips of the NS-X to go alongside the other basses!

Also ordered a set of spector nickels just in case I want something a little less middy on the NS-X, and a .130 B for my NS20005 so I can try tuning down to A or A# at least.

got the new D'Addario balanced tension strings in today... I'll be putting them through the paces tonight. They actual sound a lot like steels.

Man, so many great clips being posted today. Keep 'em coming! If I were to quote each one, it would probably be a full page of just quotes so I will say "excellent clips everyone." :)

Man, Fat240, that P/DC combo really sounds great and I can't wait for the 35P to arrive for my NS-4....If it ever does :( Seems like everyone is out of stock on them and the one store I ordered it from decided to move to a different store without telling anyone so when I called them, they can't even cancel my order since all of their systems are down and can't even check to see if they even have the thing.

I think I will be doing that to my Rebop5 also and I will just order from Bestbassgear.com from now on since they have always been great. They were out of the 35P4 so I figured I would try another place and boy am I paying for that now.

For those of you that have aftermarket EMGs installed in your basses with non-EMG pre-amps, did you have to cut the quick connect leads off to be able to solder the leads to the pre-amp or do they come with an adapter to avoid this?

I'm asking because I order my 40Js yesterday and plan on running them with my Non-Trim Tonepump, to see if I like the sound. If I don't, I plan on swapping out for a BQC. The BQC uses quick connects (a preference of mine for easy swapping of different pickups/pre-amps), and I don't want to have to splice the leads back together to go back to quicks.

I went for the b7k instead of the b3k because i wante to do the same and it was easier for me to have less on the board so I went with the one with a DI.

Spector> Darkglass> Aguilar has been my all time favorite set up.

Yes, I had to splice the ends of the quick connect wires in order to use them with my trim pot tonepump that is currently in my Rebop5. I am going to probably swap that out though since I have an 18v Spector USA circuit coming for that bass though and that uses quick connects as well and will be much easier to install.

I also had to do this with my NS-JH5 that I installed a BQC into but that was only because I wanted to keep the push/pull functionality of the TW pickup that is in the bass. If I didn't have that though, I would have been able to buy the BQC system that works with the quick connects but since I wanted to be able to switch between dual and single mode, I bought the BQC Control which is a bit cheaper but requires more soldering.

It wasn't bad though and that was literally the first time I had ever soldered before and I was able to get it installed. Sam (Limaguy) made things super easy since he made me up a wiring diagram so once I got the whole soldering thing down, it was cake.

I haven't done this yet... But I have an USA 18v preamp and the EMG quik connects work with the preamp so ill likely just solder the quick connect on to my new pickups when I swap te EMGs out

Whats wrong? no sound? is it fuzzy? real soft?

One time I was installing a preamp and I was getting no sound at all. It ended up being on the EMG pickup. the quick connect plug on the pickup was backwards. Make sure you check that.
