ive tried everything to get my new tonepump to work in my ns94 and im having no luck. all the wiring diagrams ive seen, ive tried and nothing. so im thinking on sending it in to someone who knows more about it than i do. so irritating

Post a pic or two, also what pickups are in it. I have a few TP installs under my belt now, I might be able to help.

120!? That's a BEAST of an E string!!! I couldn't fathom what the B would be for a 5-string set. :S

This is a down tune set.... designed for C and C#

For those of you that have aftermarket EMGs installed in your basses with non-EMG pre-amps, did you have to cut the quick connect leads off to be able to solder the leads to the pre-amp or do they come with an adapter to avoid this?

I'm asking because I order my 40Js yesterday and plan on running them with my Non-Trim Tonepump, to see if I like the sound. If I don't, I plan on swapping out for a BQC. The BQC uses quick connects (a preference of mine for easy swapping of different pickups/pre-amps), and I don't want to have to splice the leads back together to go back to quicks.

Whats wrong? no sound? is it fuzzy? real soft?

One time I was installing a preamp and I was getting no sound at all. It ended up being on the EMG pickup. the quick connect plug on the pickup was backwards. Make sure you check that.

nothing at all. It's dead. I even used a real life diagram by fat240 and nothing. But Lima and I spoke and think its maybe the power wire somewhere. I'll check it later.

Post a pic or two, also what pickups are in it. I have a few TP installs under my belt now, I might be able to help.

The first half is just some noodling, the second bit is a rock thing with some drums done with a pick (pick playing being a weak area of my technique that needs some developing...)

I have to say, my NS-2000/5 gives my ReBop a run for its money. The ReBop has a bit more grind than the NS, due to the TonePump pre in the ReBop, but the NS-2000/5 plays silky smooth! I'm very impressed with it, even if it is an Asian import.

After stripping off the strings (Round wounds ) this morning, use some polish to take out fine lines, using DuPont 65 to put a glow on her and several coats of Fingerboard conditioner, restrung with awesome smooth GHS Precision Flats, adjust truss rod, drive to a wedding that I operated soundboard for 2 hours, drive home, adjust truss rod more, lower bridge saddles, set intonation, then I put the NS-2000/5 thru the paces for 2 1/2 hours. yeah...she has a really awesome bite that I just love!!! You're right about them having a fast neck! I believe the neck is easier and faster than my Coda 5XL. I really love the tone! A whole different sound than the Coda. When i dig into the strings really hard and hit a slide and attack the next note quick and hard, she barks really hard! The EMG HZ's look as they were replaced as they look brand new. No rub marks at all. I love her!!! I was thinking about either going with silver or gold hardwAre but I'm liking the all black right now.

I'm glad you got it in time for the Sunday service, let us all know how it played!

From what I heard from her tonight, it should be pretty awesome!

Looks killer, congrats! What I like about these old korean 5ers is the headstock which I prefer to USA and Euro 5ers. How do you find it after owing all that USA Spectors?

First...A USA Spector setups a lot faster. Especially like the USA intonation screw bridges. I can't stand the old locking bridges for setting intonation. The neck on the NS-20005 has the fastest FB of all the Korean Spectors but not as fast as the Forte 5 I had. The finish on USA Spectors are a lot lot thicker and better looking.

I figured 1 was the tp, 2 was the haz, 3 was the aggie. your technique and playing is very clean, clearwave. your note to note balance and phrasing is really clean. all three sounded good, but it was a toss up between 2 and 3 for me.

icebox, I wish I still had that bass, I was doing a kind of memorial of the spectors I'd loved and lost there. that was just a killer freakin' nscr4fm there. plum with solid wings.
