Question for those with electrical knowledge...
On a non-trim TP, if I were to move the volume pot to AFTER the pre-amp, would it help to remove the harshness that the non-trim TP generally has at higher boost? Or is the trim pot on the TrimPump for the input signal into the EQ?

As some of you guys may know I've been on the hunt for a specifically green Euro 5 or Rebop 5 for quite some time now to go along with my blue 5LX.
I just got around to watching some of the videos of the spector 2013 catalog and really would love to try a PJ setup, but it seems like they're only offering it in the NS5H2's, not the XL's. I know theres always the option of going with the EMG 40P40J setup but is that going to be the real deal like the legit PJ setup is?
I almost prefer the looks of the dual soapbars to the PJ setup but if the real deal will get me closer to THAT sound then the replacement pickups then maybe that's the route I should take.

The 40P & 40J are the standard P/J pickups, mounted in the 40 housings. Still a split coil & single coil pick up, respectively.

i just really wonder why they offer the traditional PJ pickups in the bolt on but not the NS neckthru series.
I was going to say Legend, until I saw the bridge.
Nice flamed top on that, though...and the matte finish is interesting. It doesn't have the deep neck pocket that a ReBop or USA would have...and the neck is black, so it's probably not a Q-Pro (but it could be). The EMGSSD pickups scream Legend/Q/Performer. Maybe it's been refin...but then the serial would have to have been re-applied, along with the decals...I'm stumped. lol

Also, the tuner key for the D string is crooked.
For a USA NT, it's probably a custom option. Lots of things are.
I don't think I've ever seen non-soapbars on a Euro/ReBop5, though.

Very important info right thereIt could, and it just depends on what your looking for really. The white LE models are nice for sure. A Kramer or Brooklyn or even a used Forte with a 9v can be found around that price range. I've seen the LE's go around 19 to 2100. I almost bought one but opted for a white Brooklyn or two. I think it comes down to the tone your searching for and how much you want to search. Some like the TP, some the newer 9v's, some the older circuits.
$550 is a lot for that bass... I paid $200 for my 4 string

Im assuming 18V or 9V USA in the Forte and maybe OBP-1 or TP in the rebop?
How'd you like the tone with the TP (assuming thats what was in your bass). I'd really love to upgrade my Euro from the DC's I have and non trim TP (still LOVING the tone, have it set just right for what I need), I just find that when using the treble knob I go from a nice warm tone (rolled off) and a high pingy like sound when I have the tone up, would like a natural sounding mid treble, I think the USA pre will help me get that, I just don't know if I wanna hold off on upgrades for the time being and order another bass, or do the upgrades and stick with the Spector and Dingwall until I can afford a down payment on my custom build.
For the TP, if you have active pickups, try doing LimaGuy's 18V mod. I'll forward you the picture.
I'm going to try this with my new 40J pickups. It's supposed to give a nicer sweep, without getting harsh & brittle as early as it does.

Got the PM and am definitely gonna look into doing the 18V mod, I've got nothing to lose, so why not. I assume the two batteries will fit in my Euro 5LX's cavity just fine?
And dual 40J's? That'll sound awesome! Are you doing the install yourself? Anyone running dual 40P pickups?
