Just got home after a long work day, gonna make some supper and start relaxing before the show,.

Got the PM and am definitely gonna look into doing the 18V mod, I've got nothing to lose, so why not. I assume the two batteries will fit in my Euro 5LX's cavity just fine?

And dual 40J's? That'll sound awesome! Are you doing the install yourself? Anyone running dual 40P pickups?

The other battery has to sit over top of the pots, so wrap it in some foam & make sure it's not going to move around.
I really wish someone made 18V batteries that used a 9V clip.

Yeah, I think dual Js will give me EXACTLY the tone I'm looking for. I thought about a P/J and then a P/P, but when it comes down to it, I like the bark of a J.

When I did the Spector sound comparison video a few weeks ago....I didn't really get into the different tonal ranges that you can get with the P and J pickup only so here's another video that pretty much encapsulates everything ...(I hope)

Me too. I think those clips vaulted it in front of the Brooklyn for me. The Brooklyn is nice and bright but the splat sounded so full. It's a close one.

I dig all the split coil tones! The combined ones are ok, and not really a big fan of the bridge only tones at all. This is why I need a 5 string Spector P-Bass....lol.

The Spalted Maple NS-2 has got the magic!! They all sound great in your hands. The Spalted maple just sounds a little greater. IMHO. If the house were on fire and you could only save one.... Which would you save?

I have only one thought on your tone comparison Omer, I wish the all basses were tuned alike. I only say that as if I remember correctly, it takes more power to produce lower notes with authority? Isn't that correct? So I believe the forte was tuned BEAD right? That's my only critique...playing is awesome as usual but I don't think the forte got a fair tone comparison due to different tuning? But if I had to pick from them all I would agree Spalt for the win! And again, far be it from me to critique you, as you smoke me as a player! . I'm speaking only towards the tonal comparison. Again, fabulous playing.

On another note, I truly enjoyed that percussive bass video technique you posted a while back! Care to repost for fun? Or PM me a link? You rock brother!

The Spalt definitely has a voice of it's own and by comparison to the Brooklyn, it's just a tad warmer I think. The Brooklyn is fatter in overall tone and it's a slapping machine. But I think the Walnut on the back of the spalt might give it that extra warmth...I don't know.
Which one would I save....All of them!!!!! But the Spalt has more sentiment for me because of the "special" order and it's my first "custom" bass so to speak.

Thanks dude. Trust me, I wish I could have the Forte back to standard tuning but because of the band I play in, I have to have it BEAD... For some reason, personally I have a hard time registering anything past a low D But that's just me.
I really think the Forte has great mojo of its own. I've had it the longest and it's been my main bass for the last 2 years almost so it's gotten the most use. Maybe it's my ear that is used to it.

Here's the plucking technique...I should make a better one with the bass actually plugged in!!

After listening to Omer's clips (great stuff by the way), I was browsing the Spector site & his pic was up as the featured Spector Artist. How cool is that?
And yes, the spalted NS-2 rocks...

Speaking of NS-2s, I'm so happy with my new/used NS-2 that I truly believe I could sell off the majority of my bass collection & be satisfied with just my NS-2 and NS-4.
For the first time in decades, I'm GAS and SAS-free.

Guys my manager will soon post pics of a sweet deal I received with 99.9% of his help....and another coming in the next week.....Yes this is with my New Years(also slightly prior) resolution of trimming some debt and lowering these nasty CC debt and setting a ceiling of $1000 a bass ....and thinking best bang for the buck with my experience of buying/flipping gear.....also found another bargain of $960 for another bass last night...total of 5 basses all under $1000, total value of $3960!!!.....I once had 1 bass with that total plus another 30% on top..

In my search of Tone but also Versatility my current stable has 3 people of references and recommendations of basses.....Sam, Lenny and "The Toe".

This also to do with this aging on it's last leg 1997 Pathfinder that can go at anytime.....Must have Reserve for next car purchase!!!

Omer, Awesome!!!...guys you know when you are looking on Youtube for clips of certain basses and never really find ones that make you say....sounds ok but nothing that makes me want to go out and look for or invest in "that" particular bass......NOT HERE!!!.....This Nails the Spector NS2 sound 110%!!!....All are Great but love the Look+Sound of Brooklyn the best!!....Good Job I am sure this will make people not familiar with Spector to Want to be familiar with Spector!!!

It doesn't show price?....Great deal it must be under $1000 right?....I sold a Mint Ian Hill with a US 9volt($350) for I believe $1250...so taken the $350 off it was really like $950 mint....

Im assuming 18V or 9V USA in the Forte and maybe OBP-1 or TP in the rebop?

How'd you like the tone with the TP (assuming thats what was in your bass). I'd really love to upgrade my Euro from the DC's I have and non trim TP (still LOVING the tone, have it set just right for what I need), I just find that when using the treble knob I go from a nice warm tone (rolled off) and a high pingy like sound when I have the tone up, would like a natural sounding mid treble, I think the USA pre will help me get that, I just don't know if I wanna hold off on upgrades for the time being and order another bass, or do the upgrades and stick with the Spector and Dingwall until I can afford a down payment on my custom build.

The Forte 5 had the 9V Aguilar OBP 3, which I modified it to 18V, EMG 40P5 40J, AWESOME tones! I used it on our Praise band CD last year. The sound engineer was really excited about its tone.
The ReBop 4 DLX had the 9V non-trim TP, EMG 35P 35J, that pickup arrangement seemed to tame the non-trim TP. If it had been a ReBop 5 I'd kept it. It was a true joy to play and marvelous to hear!

Here's a thought for you...why not experiment with upgrading the pickups? Swap out the DC's as you mention, with the EMG P/J equivalent? I believe you'd be amazed in the difference in the TP! If you decide to swap out the DC's, I'd be interested in buying those from you. I'm going to mod my NS-20005 with EMG 40P neck, EMG DC bridge. Then either the USA Spector 18V or Aguilar OBP 3 Pre @18V.

Awesome! I've recently started working on plucking with two fingers. It took a while but I'm starting to get there. Great idea with transferring drum exercises to the bass.

I've thought about doing dual 40P pickups on my NS-20005 but want to try 40P DC first.

I think I remember reading a recent interview with Rex Brown who said to secret to his tone on the Kill Devil Hill record was the Walnut back and keeping his pickups as low as they would go. Then he stopped and said that's all he'd share because he didn't want to give away all his secrets.
