After listening to Omer's clips (great stuff by the way), I was browsing the Spector site & his pic was up as the featured Spector Artist. How cool is that?
And yes, the spalted NS-2 rocks...

Speaking of NS-2s, I'm so happy with my new/used NS-2 that I truly believe I could sell off the majority of my bass collection & be satisfied with just my NS-2 and NS-4.
For the first time in decades, I'm GAS and SAS-free.

The Spalt definitely has a voice of it's own and by comparison to the Brooklyn, it's just a tad warmer I think. The Brooklyn is fatter in overall tone and it's a slapping machine. But I think the Walnut on the back of the spalt might give it that extra warmth...I don't know.
Which one would I save....All of them!!!!! But the Spalt has more sentiment for me because of the "special" order and it's my first "custom" bass so to speak.



Thanks dude. Trust me, I wish I could have the Forte back to standard tuning but because of the band I play in, I have to have it BEAD... For some reason, personally I have a hard time registering anything past a low D But that's just me.
I really think the Forte has great mojo of its own. I've had it the longest and it's been my main bass for the last 2 years almost so it's gotten the most use. Maybe it's my ear that is used to it.

I just finished running some of the songs and packing up the stuff for tonights show, I also read an email from a local city wanting to attend the show tonight to discuss the possibility of us playing there carnival/festival in June...sounds like a productive evening for music and bookings is in store!

I think I remember reading a recent interview with Rex Brown who said to secret to his tone on the Kill Devil Hill record was the Walnut back and keeping his pickups as low as they would go. Then he stopped and said that's all he'd share because he didn't want to give away all his secrets.

I saw Kill Devil Hill live and I stood right in front of Rex... he had all 4 knobs wide open on the bass, and he had the MXR blowtorch on the entire time. Really brutal tone live, in a good way.

I think he sinks his pups because he runs his TP at WFO.

He also mentioned something about a mahogany neck?

Ya but he was mistaken.... I asked PJ about it, Rex plays stock Euros... no mahogany

yup... he only turned it on to add some thickness, mostly when he was using the wah for some NOISE

Anyone looking for a cheap Euro4 (pre-LX) I have one up in the classifieds, its a bit scratched from the previous owner (all damage is detailed in pics), but the TONE is all there.

I play lots of beater-basses since I get them cheaper since I just need the sound, but with my NS-X I can get all the tones I like in my Euro, so the Euro is up for sale. Might drop the price a bit for a club member.

I'll try to remake the ones I did acoustically and actually have them plugged in and do some fun doodling exercises that I usually do when I just well....doodle which is a lot.

I guess they're pretty far apart! Mine starts with NB16! Not sure what it means but oh well it would have been a nice anecdote.

I actually discovered something VERY interesting when changing my strings, the pickups are not normal EMG humbuckers, (or maybe they are and I'm insane) but there is a magnetic pull from the polepieces under the EMG cover, and they are in a P-bass pickup configuration, and NOT the reversed ones either!

Both pickups the E-A side the polepieces are towards the neck, and the D-G side the polepieces are towards the bridge. They also have labels that say EMG-HB on the bottom over the wax potting.

I was trying to figure out when the E string seemed a bit lower in output (just enough to tell when lsitening closely, not significantly low), but it seems like its actually just polepiece orientation

Cool. I keep wondering if I will buy a NS-2 or not. With me being a Five string player...

No sense in settling for a 4-banger when you are a 5-er guy. I think you need a nice Bahama Blue NS-5 to go with your Coda. They would make quite the stunning pair, and between those 2 basses you could cover any style, genre or situation that ever came your way.

I noticed that the green quilt maple euro on ebay that's been way overpriced forever has been dropped to a 1400 starting bid. still high but damn that bass has NS2 grade wings.
