my brooklyn NS2 is a former Jeff bass, even if I didn't get it from him. hot damn!

Good LUCK on waiting...they're none too quick on fixing. :ninja: That's why I dumped their app. If they can't replicate it on their device, they don't fix it because its not broken according to them! :scowl:

Ya'll win. Congratz. My beloved Fender American Jazz Deluxe is now officially my "specific uses" bass. My newly acquired Spector has become my primary bass.

Don't tell any Fender folks I said this......and you'll swear this is an exageration, but it's not. I've been searching for months to find the tone I was looking for. I have a Boss GT-10B pedal board, and I've been running my Fender AMDLX through it trying setting after setting to try to get the tone I wanted. No matter I did, I just couldn't get the bite out of it. The Fender is one SMOOTH bass, I will give you that, but I couldn't get it to growl.

Well... I plugged the Spector in straight to my Carvin amp. Done. Not freaking kinding... Done. That's the tone. Right there. No amp modeller needed. Compression and a tuner and I'm done. I couldn't believe it.

So when I asked why "The Freak" Spector had been sold around TB so many times, I was told because people have GAS for bigger better Spectors... Well, don't expect to see this guy for sale ever again. Sorry everyone else!

I played my gold NS-2 at rehearsal for the 2nd time last night, and it was absolutely ripping! Sent chills down my spine & made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. :bassist:
I don't know if I didn't have it fully dialed in last week, but she was sounding evil last night. My drummer said it's his new favorite bass, and we all agreed that what it lacks in bottom end (compared to my NS-4), it more than makes up for in aggression & punch.
All is right with the world..... :cool:

NBD........got a Ian Hill in trade/deal last night..........plays really well, and I'm digging the neck profile.......I'm just going to have to see if I can manage a gloss neck for the long haul............since I'm a matte/bare wood finish kinda guy.......black and gold sure looks good!!!!!

The Aguilar OBP-2 is a great pre especially when it is run at 18 volts. Obviously Spector and Aguilar have a great relationship since Spector generally uses preamps made by them or directly for them (tone pump and hazlab manufactured 9volt and 18 volt for Spector). Spector has been using the OBP-2 and OBP-3 now too.

Don't quote me, 100% ....but I do believe Patrick (JPSbassist) had good things to say about both preamps (aguilars). I like them both myself also very much.

If you are trying to mod a bass, currently you can't get the 9 volt circuit. If you are buying new from Spector, many die hard players here will tell you that the 9 volt is the ONLY way to fly to get the true Spector experience in all its glory.

So if you are getting a new Forte or NS-2 I'd say go for the 9 volt over the obp-2 so you can get the total spector experience! :bassist:

The aggie obp-2 and 3 are my favorite pre...with the exception of the Spector US 9v, which I have only played on for a few short minutes. You can dial in a nice smooth clear jazzy tone but you can definitely get the nice gritty stuff too...especially when wired 18V!

In my mind, if Stuart Spector thinks enough of the OBP 2/3 to put it in the Forte series, the entire US Bolt-On Series and as an upgrade in the Euro series, then it is probably good enough for me! :)

E...I had a NS-2A that I converted to BEAD...loved the tone, feel but not the cherryburst.

Jeff has what I believe to be the best "gigging musician" attitude about basses now........used with a ceiling of 1000-1200. I understand that this eliminates some stuff but Euros and CRFMs and some Legends are very playable and gig worthy.

THe faux forte as you call it has moved on to another club member many months ago. The comparison to the Current matte euro i have now with DCs and the 18 volt preamp is apples and oranges to me........

I have played the dual p arrangement with passive pickups but not EMGs. I found it to be a tad boomy but correctable with minor eq'ing
