not trying to argue with you Wilkie but the rock bass line is warwicks third tier. the German basses are top tier, the warwick Korean pro series are probably more in line with the euro equivalents from a price standpoint, the rock bass line would be more comparable to the Legend or performer series.
all that matters is you play what you like though. but from a value standpoint. the rebop is the higher value bass.

To each their own, I say. I wouldn't say that I'm particularly brand-loyal but I am sound-loyal. And that sound I'd been chasing apparently only comes out of a Spector.
Absolutely! Any time.
I realize they're 3rd tier imports, but fit/finish on those new Rockbasses (the ones that don't say Rockbass on the headstock) is just as good as my Rebop. Sure, you don't get flamed tops, but the finishes on them are beautiful. And, they can be had for the price of a Legend. Having played both a Legend 5 this week and the Corvette 5, I'd give the advantage to the Corvette. The pre-amp was nice, too. A slight bit of MM style compression with Jazz bark.

My local guitar tech just became the Vancouver Island exclusive dealer for Warwick. :S
He has a new Rockbass Corvette with double J MEC pickups. This thing sings & plays so smoothly! It's making me want to sell my recently modded ReBop5DLX to get it.

I own both Warwicks and Spectors......play what you like, play what feels right to you..........don't be a sheep.........LOL It's ok..........the corvette originates with Warwick......

Having owned a first gen rockbass and having played the new line of rockbass I am amazed........the fit and finish was incredible.........we all like what we like. I think its no big deal what basses we all play beyond Spector. Loads of us have non spector basses.....people in the club own Warwicks, Sadowskys, Fenders, Modulus, EBMM, Laklands, Alembics etc. I know why some people have beef with Warwick that are staunch Spector supporters. I get it, really I do. Having said that.......why doesn't any company get grief for using a fender designed body? Improved or not? It's still using another design..........maybe its just not that simple? I don't know? I thikn we all play what we play because it feels right to us. I am friends with people that can rock their Squier better than I can play a USA Spector........and they would not trade their instrument for anything...........weird huh?
Ok.......I'm off my soapbox......but.......I just think we all can get along because we do play Spectors and find merit in them. Probably LESS THAN HALF of the people here own nothing but Spector brand basses. But I can't back that up. I like my Spectors, but also like variety. Just because I am married to one woman doesn't mean I need to be married to one bass or brand.....LOL
I fault no one that is brand loyal and truly RESPECT that......seriously

Saw them 4 times. They opened for UB40 at the Mann in Philly. Saw them at the Palladium in Hollywood. They opened for the Rolling Stones at the Coliseum, L.A. (incidentally, GnR were on the list, and Axl walks off after 2 songs amid some alleged racist remarks). Saw them with Doug on bass in Boston at the Orpheum (Bad Brains opened for them!!). So it's been 20 years since I've seen them, zoiks!

This is a question I ask myself a lot when the Spector v. Warwick beef surfaces... Oh well...I play what I play because it's what I like...it just so happens that there is an S on my headstock instead of a W...but mainly because they feel better on my round belly and because the 5'ers are 35" scale.
I also do not fault anyone for their loyalties. It seems to be a rare trait in people these days!

It goes beyond the NS body thing, and I think really only the "Spector Only" people keep that beef alive. To each his own tho...
O and I'm a Spector only player... I don't own any non Spectors anymore.

tonight I'm playing a gig, but I'm more than likely taking my p bass instead of my Brooklyn ns2. it just fits the sound better.

carefull padwan the Darkside masks your heart in confussion and doubt, stay true to the force.
I totally get that its all going to come down to personal preference when playing an instrument, but IMO, the ReBop's would be the way to go for ME at least. I've truly found my tone in Spector basses, and they're probably the only brand of bass I'd consider buying sight unseen just because when I describe my tone, Spector nails it. I've been through two other high end basses since I picked up my Euro 5LX and really, nothing that I've found has spoken to me the way that my Euro does.. That's not to say that other basses aren't for other guys, or that I'll never play or buy another bass, but I'm really set on my Spector and have no more Stingray, Fender, G&L, etc gas, only SAS now..
and im gonna be completely honest here, i love the sound and feel of my German made $$, but the way Stewart runs his business, the great support of Patrick here, the passion and help of this group on TB have made me brand loyal. Now I will always have a Fender Jazz bass in my possession because its my favorite sound and Fender started it all, Spector will always be my Favorite brand, and I dont even own a US version.
Life is short. Play whatever bass - or basses - that make you happy.
I own 4 Spectors & 8 non-Spectors, but I've pretty much played only my Spectors for a several years now. I do have my opinions on the S vs. W debate, but I keep those opinions to myself & have never directly addressed them here.
That said, I think W builds some great sounding, great playing instruments - I've just never played one that "spoke" to me.
