You got a heck of a deal! So far what I was seeing a few months back around when I got my NS-2A it was around 450-500 for a minty condition unmodified NS-2A, less for ones that were beat up, a little more for upgrades like EMGs

Basstovsky is right on.
Over the past 2 years NS-2A's averaged between $450-$550. In the used market.

Any "typical" NS-2A over $650 would be over priced.

NS-2A's have pricing issues because:
some sellers seem to not realize that they have a Korean made bass and think its a USA made NS-2.

stock NS-2As have:
dot inlays
Spector branded pickups
"pro series" bridge... it is flat like the USA bridge but it is much narrower on the edges.

Everything said above is correct but sometimes you can get thrown off by NS-2A's that have been upgraded with active EMGs and/or inlay stickers.

That is why it is great for a group like this to show the listing to and confirm the exact model.

There is no single-coil tap since the pickups are DC's. The mid control gives good flexibility for adding meat to the tone.

It's a great bass and is a little cleaner sounding than the typical Spector due to the EMG preamp, and the ebony adds a little bit of brightness. Fits in the mix very well.

I'm really liking some of the tones Jaymi has on youtube, seems like a fast neck for a 5 string...whats your take on the neck?

I was hoping our guitar player had the video done that his wife took so I could post it for y'all. not like you need another person gushing over NS2's on here, but my god this thing sounded and played killer the other night. Glad I didn't decide to use my Pbass, the other two guys had P's and that woulda just been boring. Tons of compliments that night.

I guess the best thing about it is that when I got home I couldn't put the thing down for another 2 hours...

Glad I'm not alone here. I got home from rehearsal Wednesday night at 10:00 PM, and played my NS-2 'till just past midnight..

Great point. I think I've had the sickness now for a good while so I can spot most of the models without cross checking

I've got this weird thing about trying to emulate some of my older basses with Spectors, like I will eventually have a blue NS-5XL and a red NS-6XL, and my first two pro-quality basses were a blue 5-string Carvin and a red 6-string Carvin. My next bass after that was a black and maple Stingray 5, so I would love to get the MMBop in black with the maple board.

Yeah I'm weird like that.

Now black with maple board would look SEXY Andrew! That combo was what my Matt Freeman. I love that color combo!

eBay has nada, same with local listings.
There are a couple across the country, but they have ludicrous prices, like the one above.

Well I took a bunch of pictures of my Spector family in this nice New England spring weather we're finally having, sadly these are the only two pictures I was able to save, as when I copied the pictures over, the microSD card somehow un-formatted itself.

Fortunately these two came out relatively well so its not the end of the world.

I guess its a good thing I didn't lose anything particularly important

Supply and demand at work. Perhaps the quality relative to price is catching on and people don't sell because, realistically, what can they spend $500 on that will be of relative quality and value? Not much.

Just because some sold at a price for a long time shouldn't mean that price should remain constant. NS-2A's should sell for more.

I agree and would never sell my NS2a for that price, it's worth more than that to me even if I gave only $550 for it over 20 years ago....I would just keep it and keep adding to my collection.
