TK, your rifinish job was stellar and inspiring. I keep getting on and off the fence on refinishing my CRFM, and every time I see your great work, along with Mr.Basie's tangerine Forte, I jump back on the fence.

A few questions. Where did you get the stain? What brand was it? Do you thing the tung oil will work well on most dark colors? What about lighter colors?

Good to here you got it back. Mine's black. I really like it, but the neck is not what I'm used to. I've been playing NS-2s for years & that's what I'm used to.

I completely understand and agree. I had mine shaved before it was refinished. Not a drastic amount, just enough to make it more similar to other Spectors that I had played.

I used TransTint stain/dye. It is waterbased and you can mix with water or D'natured Alcohol. They have some nice colors.
I found mine at Rockler woodworking. Tung oil will work well on dark as well as light colors.. Just use thin coats

9V EMG BT. Not a USA circuit. lol! I wouldn't give one of those up!

I have the 9 volt EMG BT in my Rex 5 pro and it just kills my Euro 4LX with the non trim tone pump. I don't have a feel for the value of your bass but that BT is a darn good preamp. Good luck on the sale, I'll be sure to give it a bump when you put it up.

The BT's definitely a nice pre-amp. I'm on the other side of the fence, though. Since putting a set of 40J pickups in my ReBop5 & switching it to an 18V circuit, that bass gets more of the sound I want.

Slow day!

Just wanted to give an update on the Kramer NS-2. I've had a few PM's about it but nothing solid yet. I'd love to keep this in the club, but I am going to have to do a general listing here on the classifieds by the weekend if no one can grab it. Feel free to shoot me any questions you might have.

Oh and I bought Lee's MB800 today. Can't wait to hear that thing.

Agreed congrats. Those amber finishes look great in pics, and since my black cherry Euro looked so much hotter in person, I imagine it's the same with the amber. Oh and they play and sound pretty good too.

The exact opposite of me. I found the BT too clean when it was in my NS2A and switched to a TP.

I'm going to try it in my Legend 5 though to see if it sounds better with DC pick-ups though.

Nice pic! It does look small, but I'm guessing its just the angle of the shot. That, or you're a giant!

Speaking of amber, Spector's website shows 2 very different versions of Ultra Amber - the monochromatic orangish color of the USA Wimbish (and my woodstock NS-2), and the cherry sunburst color of Lee's latest beauty.
Does anybody know when/if if the cherry sunburst color replaced the Wimbish color, or have there always been two different colors referred to as "Ultra Amber"?
