I tried to get a 35" USA 4 string Spector and they said 'nope'.

well, you can get very close to it if you take Euro435 and put the Spector USA 9 Volt pre in. It'll give you 90% of USA Spector with 35" scale.

This is the Ian Hill 35 with the detuner installed that had been on the classifieds for a while. Since I sold one of my 435's to NOLA and the other is going back to Cory that would take me down to zero 435's.

Now, I'm a sucker for that classic gloss black look with the gold hardware and the 4-string headstock, which is why I grabbed Jeff's Kramer. But after rehearsing with it twice, no matter how good it sounds and feels, the scale was throwing me off. Every other Spector I have is 35". So when I saw this, I thought here's the perfect way to have that classic black/gold look but in a 35" scale. Sure it's not a Kramer, but I'm confident my forthcoming NS-5XL with the US 9v and 40P5 is going to get me really close to that sound. And plus I love the TP in these 435's anyway.

How's that for rationalization!

Bunk, so how do you tune your 435s? Mine was BEAD.

On a side note...
Does anyone think that TK's killer,Legend fretless's quilt top refin (sweet job), kinda reminds them of J.Deluca's NS5XL's wings? I know theyre different,completely,but every time I see one of these types of quilt,I get the SHIVERS!!!

Hey, and thanks for the note. Honestly I had not priced them here. I have just been to busy to pay much attention, I jumped on basscentral.com and ebay and looked at new ones. I want to sell them, not look at them here at home lol, so I JUST dropped the prices a lot. Posting this on the Spector page in case someone is Jonesing for one or two. Thanks again!

I don't. I have the ACG-02 preamp, very versatile. Maybe too versatile. I will have a US9V in it one day. What color is your JA-R? I sold mine during a time of financial hardship, but was able to secure its return home through the kindness of one of our bass playing brothers. I have heard a couple of the originals, but have not had the chance to play one. Anton just received his and he is loving it.

Good to here you got it back. Mine's black. I really like it, but the neck is not what I'm used to. I've been playing NS-2s for years & that's what I'm used to.

Hi All,
I finished up the all the tung oil on the Legend body and finished it off with a coat of finishing wax and a few coats of fresh conductive shielding paint in the cavities. Now I just need to install the electronics and put it all back together.
I have 2 sets of knobs that I'm not sure which set I will use on it. I have one set of Euro style knobs and one set of the Aluminum knobs from Best Bass Gear. I will try them both out and see which ones that I like better.

I have one question though: Where does the ground wire that goes underneath the bridge get soldered to at the other end?
I didn't pay attention to that wire when I took the Bass apart and I didn't see the bridge ground wire on the TonePump PDF wiring diagram

Random question. Can Legends or Rebops be had with an unlined fretless neck? Before I jump in with both feet with a fretless, I figure that I should have one to fool around on first. Thoughts?

I inquired about this several months ago and was told it is an option. I forget what the pricing was. If you haven't asked recently maybe check with PJ. Maybe something's changed either way.

Nice! I played the Faux Forte at practice tonight. Sounded and played great! I was surprised to find the neck profiles different on the 2 435's. i figured they'd be identical.

Interesting. I didn't notice a ton of difference between that one and the gloss 435 I have. Of course the new Ian Hill one feels thinner.

Except you can't get a US9V!!!! Believe me, I'd have done it already!!!!

Bunk, so how do you tune your 435s? Mine was BEAD.

Yep, the one I just sent to NOLA was BEAD. The other I have from bassgiant is currently set CGCF. That one should be going back to him soon though which will leave me with just the one 435.

I'm debating on what to do with it. I have my red 5LX setup ADGCF so I can easily handle drop C on that one rather than having a separate bass for it.

Since the Ian Hill 35 I just got had a drop tuner installed (took it off for now), I have a couple options. I can set it up BEAD which will require me to widen the nut slots. But then I have an instant drop A bass with the detuner. Of course I have a detuner on the way from Hipshot for the Webster which was also going to be a detune to drop A thing.

My other option is, my guitarist has mentioned doing more songs in drop C#. So I could use it like that. I just have to decide if I will try to get the detuner in the mix. I'm thinking I can either use it to go between C# and D# or just set it up C#G#C#F# and be done with it. I'd want the tension optimized for C#, so tuning up to D# could be a little tight. Decision...

Are you guys running BEAD on 35 or 34 inch scales? I'm used to the 34" scale and BEAD is intriguing to me so that I don't have to deal with switching between a 4 and a 5er. Just curious to get some opinions.
