Hi all! I've officially moved house! The studio room is halfway done, and I'mready to record the bass for my band's second album! It took so damn long! :D

The Spector is fine and survived the move, I'm happy to report.

So what's been going on here? :D

Speaking of amber, Spector's website shows 2 very different versions of Ultra Amber - the monochromatic orangish color of the USA Wimbish (and my woodstock NS-2), and the cherry sunburst color of Lee's latest beauty.
Does anybody know when/if if the cherry sunburst color replaced the Wimbish color, or have there always been two different colors referred to as "Ultra Amber"?

I have a Euro 5LX and it's pretty heavy. Feels fine with my massively wide strap, but with a smaller one it's not so especially comfortable but nice enough :)

To be honest, I'd play the thing even if it were 10 pounds heavier, the sound and playability make sit worth it :)

I'm trying to get studio shots of all the current available stain colors...

Under different lights, the colors will look different (depending on the photog's white balance settings).
In my studio under my lights everything will at least be uniform... not saying that in broad sunlight or crazy backstage florescent lights they won't look different.

There are two different Ultra Amber stains: Ultra-Amber and Ultra-Amber Burst.

Additional variables for potential stain color differences are the types of woods and finishes used.

A matte finish looks different and often pops less than a high gloss finish.

The density of the wood will also make a difference in that the stain soaks into softer areas faster than more dense.

Ultra-Amber is a solid monochromatic stain.
Whereas Ultra-Amber Burst will have the black stain contrasts to the ultra-amber color leading out to a light burst (darker stained area around the edges).

The difference between flame and quilt maple, the addition of the black base coat (which is sanded and then the color stain is applied) or not and the finish in either matte or gloss... all of these variables (not including camera, lights, etc...) can potentially confuse the be-jebus out of you.

I know these are Spector Electric Guitars... but they are the best example of what I'm talking about:

Yep... in the 6'2" club... but since my back surgery I've gained about 15lbs. At the 195 mark. So I'll be joining you in lean-ville again soon now I can exercise again.

And as far as it being a bass player thing... we'll need to get some of the bassists you and I know mutually some stilts. :eek:

My neck thru Spector Rex5 pro (Korean made) is a light 9.6 pounds without the strap. The neck is thin for a five but it is a 35 inch scale and the body wings are solid maple. Don't know if I just got lucky or if this is the norm for the Rex body style. But it's a great bass and I like it more than my Euro 4LX at the moment.
