I have never fiddled with the bridge on my NS-4CR, but I disassembled my bass the other night and cleaned everything thoroughly. I put on a new set of strings, and decided I should adjust the intonation. Then I realized that the bridge isn't really adjustable in any way. It's the matte brass bridge that was used on the early SSD NS-4s.
Should I assume that I would need to purchase an adjustable bridge in order to tweak anything? Will an adjustable bridge fit in the cutout that the matte bridge fits into?
I've seen discussions about adjustable & non-adjustable bridges in here before; I wish I would have paid more attention now!

I agree with the above about the drive control. I have both the TH pedal and TH 500 and the drive control on the head is such a cool feature. The way you can "cop" that old school, sealed cab tone as you roll it up is really cool. It also rolls of the lows a bit, almost like a poor man's high pass filter.

I don't use the drive either for distortion but rather a way to give the tone a nice "edge" to it. The drive, gain and sweepable mids are a great thing on that head.

One other suggestion: if you're gonna buy new and buy for cash, buy the Aguilar from musicians friend . If it doesn't blow you away, send it back and order the GB. MF doesn't care, and you won't always wonder what if...

You guys are killing me. Just when I'm about to pull the trigger on the GB you pull me back to the TH. LOL

The bridges are adjustable.

There is a set screw on one side of the bridge that when loosened, allows you to remove and adjust the saddles, you can tilt them and raise/lower with the two set screws in each saddle, and move them for intonation. Then you tighten the set screw on the side to lock all the saddles in place again.

They don't have intonation screws like a typical bridge, but you can adjust everything but string spacing width

You still have way more options with the Genz.

I'm hoping you have a 4 ohm cab... if you ever go with a single 8 ohm cab that TH is only giving you 250w man.

you want distortion with the genz roll up that gain & cut the volume.

Features the TH 500 does NOT have

Aux in- Plug in all your tunes & play through your cab or headphones

Headphones- Sweet feature

Footswitch- Change all the filters to alter your tone on the fly, mute etc

Signal shapers- really cool stuff man, i use them all the time going from song to song without having to change my main eq or bass settings

I contemplated the th500. It was between that and the gk mb800. I went with the gk for the fact if I ever need 800 watts, I have it . I got a neo 410 8 ohm cab with it. Phenomenal sound. I don't regret one bit of it. When I need distortion, which is frequently, I use my mxr m80. It all sounds great. But that th500 sounds great from the YouTube videos of it. I just couldn't find one in person to fall in love with. But like I said, the gk mb800 is an awesome head too.

I have two small portable amps I've played my USA and Euro Spectors through...

One is a Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0 with the 210 cab. It's like a combo but isn't.

Great sounding, clean. Lots of possibilities for shaping the sound at the amp. Plenty of power. And basically about 50lbs. So fairly easy to move around.

Second is the Aguilar ToneHammer 350 with two SL112 Aguilar Cabs.

This rig is awesome. Great tone. Not near as many features as the Genz. But smaller, lighter and makes just as much noise (they both have the same power unit I believe).

The SL112s are warm, have adjustable tweeters and weigh in at 25lbs a piece.

I actually have my Genz set up in my office as a pre-amp for recording. Having it hooked right into my computer's sound-card interface.

I have the Aguilar Rig ready to play at the drop of a hat, with all my pedals and effects plugged into it. It's my main little office rig.

Which one of these would you take on stage with you?

Have you guys seen the Redwood Burl NS-4H2 with the wenge neck? Looks just like my top, only 10 serial numbers away, but man, that wenge neck looks nice. I know these are rare as you don't see much wenge coming from Spector.

The Aguilar because it's a fast and easy setup.
Simple controls, much less stuff to have to deal with.

In studio I like the Genz as a pre.

In the photo below you can see the Genz in my desk rack and the Aguilar is setup and ready to go (like if I was going to gig with it).

This bass was originally sold new from an authorized Spector dealer
Andy’s guitars. They had it listed on ebay for a while. It sold between $2,250-$2,750 new.

2- He is comparing it to a NS-5XL Water-cured Redwood neck-through, which is a entirely different instrument.
3- He has it listed as “New” (see details) which is obviously is not since its been through many owners over the past 2 years.

This is the type of stuff that really gets me upset. What if ynot12 really wanted to buy this bass? Maybe it would be affordable to him at the used $1,750-$2,000 price where it should be at.
But instead it’s stuck with someone trying t get a $3K+ profit from it.

Amen, Sam. I almost pulled the trigger on this one when it was up on the GC site. It's a shame, really. I'd offer the seller 1750 and not a penny more since that's what it's worth. Or just turn him in to eBay since he's trying to pass off a used instrument as new, which it obviously isn't.

Sam is correct, a little history....a little over a year ago I was getting Spector Crazy.....LOL. COming from Warwick I saw this and talked to Sam and we thought it would be a super transition bass for me having a Wenge neck, a wood I was already very familiar with and it wasn't gloss finish. I almost pulled the trigger on this bass twice.......it has been at a GC twice that I am sure of!

It's been on TB and ebay too. I almost pulled the trigger on this twice........and I have to say..........since it's changed so many hands........I'm glad I never got it......my thought is that if this was so special or magic for me it would not have changed hands so much as it is a rare neck......

Wenge is expensive. I would offer him the same, however sometimes a "Specialty wood" gets marked up......whether it cost close to org price or not........BUT.......I agree not over $1750 :scowl:

I knew that price was crazy, but didn't know that history. I can now see how he's trying to suck in an unknowing, wenge loving Warwick player. That would have been me a couple years ago. That's just lame. Damn scammer! :scowl:

I'm surprised I didn't remember that bass from prior classified listings, but maybe it jumps at me now with the redwood top that looks just like the one I recently bought (at the right price). I wish I would have known about this model bass at the prior low prices. These NS-4H2s are amazing basses and the redwood tops are gorgeous!

I agree. I am wondering if it has a massive neck on it since it keeps changing hands so much but something is telling me the current owner is going to have it for a while since their price just keeps going up. I would love to hear some sound clips of that bass since the pickup config really seems interesting.

I find it funny how they have all these high quality photos on Ebay but there isn't a good one of the build date They seem to have taken that one on an angle where you can't see that it was built in 2010.
