Has anyone else tried to talk to this guy?

A Spector Collector I'm good friends with (I'll leave his name out of it but he's got over 10 USA Spectors and has been in the market for an SSD era like this one) contacted him and tried to give him some objective/fair feedback and the guy was pretty hostile at first. --- My friend forwarded me the emails in case the guy tried to contact me through SpectorCentral.

Anyway. It's a pretty plain-Jane SSD. Looks to be in good shape. Interesting color. But the wood isn't horribly figured.

Also, the auction ended last week and he relisted, and I think he's actually increased the price.

These are interesting times for sure. I got a contact today from a guy with a Brooklyn NSX for sale. I gave him Sam's info and sent him over to the pimp.

I guess the thing about the guy on Ebay that irks me is that if you're going to copy the information off the website I built (and thus I wrote that information), take the time to correct it for your model.

He's model didn't cost $5200. You could have had that bass brand new back in that day for less than he's asking for it now... and it doesn't have carbon fiber in the neck or abalone crown inlays.

Oh well. Now I'm watching it and I'll be shocked if it sells.

Okay, here she is. My recently bought Euro 4 LX from early 2008.

As you can see it has some battle scars. This is no big deal. It's probably been used a lot, which I see as a good thing. It's worth playing and made the previous owners other basses stay at home. And... I intend to play it a lot as well.

Can I have a club number?

Found out yesterday that they were still waiting for more tube quilting to come in so I was still waiting to choose my wood.

Then today I get an email from Todd he forwarded from PJ with a pic of some quilted maple that Stuart stashed for a NAMM bass and would I like it for my bass. Called up Todd and talked about it with him and I said yes. (Damn that guy's great to work with!) PJ said that between the bleaching/sanding/prep they do on the wood and the walnut stain those dark spots will be almost gone and just add character.

I am stoked! Here's the pic of the raw wood. It's been wet down to help bring out the grain.

I saw the listing weeks ago when it first came up, and I actually laughed out loud when I saw his asking price - you could have bought a new NS-2 for what he was asking!

I believe the current asking price is actually lower than the original listing.

I thought the same thing the first time I saw the listing- little to no figuring in the maple, incorrect description and way overpriced....

I believe the current asking price is actually lower than the original listing.

I thought the same thing the first time I saw the listing- little to no figuring in the maple, incorrect description and way overpriced....

My friend recommended a much more realistic price and the guy got really defensive.

This is a buyer's market at the moment. I wish him luck.

I love the neck, the weight and the sound! However, I was surprised to get the single coil hum, even when the balance was on the middle notch.
For some reason I thought emg actives were pretty much silent... In all fairness, my house is approx. 100 years old, and some of the wiring is somewhat ancient too. If this follows the pattern of all my previous jazz basses, it should be buzz free on all but the dive-iest bars

By the way, the white NS2-JA-R is the new one, pictured next to its mono-double-bag-mate. My legend would have been in the family pic, but is at rehearsal space...

Even if it were priced $1k less, it would still be, IMHO, overpriced.
My used NS-2 (which actually does have carbon fiber in the neck, abalone inlays & some nicely figured maple too) was almost half of his asking price.
So much less that I could have bought mine & still had over $1k left over!

Between my USA NS-2 and my USA NS-4, I believe I could sell off all of my other basses & never miss them.
I'm actually thinking about doing this - the older I get, the more I find I want to simplify my life by concentrating more on quality, & less on quantity.

Between my USA NS-2 and my USA NS-4, I believe I could sell off all of my other basses & never miss them.
I'm actually thinking about doing this - the older I get, the more I find I want to simplify my life by concentrating more on quality, & less on quantity.

I've never played a NS-4 but just on my experience with the NS-2's I've owned I can totally see where you're coming from. That bass has a tone that just works beautifully in any genre. Or you can bump up the treble control and slice through any mix lol.
