I didn't realize that those were the one's that he traded, I thought he had one with an (old)original HAZ, but I probably mistook it for the new 9v. I've tried to deal with them one time and they didn't budge much.

I am pretty sure one of the NS-2O's had an original circuit in it. I almost bought it when he got it. It sold on TB for a signifcantly lower price. Maybe he pulled it for another bass?

I play guitar with my fingers more than I play bass with my fingers, lol

Hi all Spector family,

I'm going to buy my 1st Spector after long time dreaming about the S. I saw one on ebay with affordable price but i'm not sure what Spector is that, it looks like an old Rebop ? Please, teach me about that.

These are the right words. BTW, Lee, I really dig that Brooklyn NS-2JA I got from you, this little slim-neck bolt-on beast married with badass bridge and 9volt HAZ is a hell-of-a-jazz-bass! And it turned to be much more versatile than my Kramer NS-2. I discovered that if you go to one neck J-pup and bring up lows it sounds very "vintage P-bass", a lot of that vintage thump but accelerated by HAZ grind. Couple it with my B3K and get working bulldozer on stage)))

I'm glad to hear you're loving it and I agree with that. It is just a Jazz bass on 'roids. And yes, that neck J can sound very "P" like for sure.

On the D tuner thing.....yes I've installed them. They are SUPER easy to install.

I've noticed in my many years of playing bass this attitude about picks. Not sure why this is. (I'm not saying brotherbassj has one, just the people who "told" him) True, most of the greats play(ed) with their fingers, but what about others like Chris Squire? And then there's Geddy who fully admits that even though he plays with his fingers he has always strived for the sound of playing with a pick. This has resulted in his own very unique way of playing the bass.

I played with a pick the first 23 years of my life. When I transitioned to the 5 string I succummed to the fingers only pressure. It was easy because at the same time I joined a blues-rock band and that fit. But a few years later I was back in a cover band and next thing I know I'm playing about a third of the songs with a pick. The main reason being the sound. Except Rush where it's sound and Geddy's playing style which I'll never cop without a pick.

The other day I went to see some friends play and they had someone sit in. This guy was a high riding slap/pop player and very good at it. But he then proceeds to play Tool/Sober. Needless to say it didn't work. And what's sad is that he thought he killed it. :scowl: I would never put down anyone's playing style, but a true bass player knows what the song needs and will do what it takes because ultimately it's all about the song.

Finally, how would I order a new one? Is there any benefit to going through a dealer, or would I be better off emailing Spector directly? I live in the UK.

Hey Evil - a few months ago I was looking for a Wimbish bass and ran across a number of them (at decent prices) on the Bass Central website, here's a link... [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. I suspect they ship to the UK and I know they are great to work with.

I don't think I've ever seen a Wimbish with a maple fretboard so I don't know if you'll have much luck with that option. I also looked into a custom build with Spector about a year ago and found that depending on the bass and options it can be a fairly long wait (like 9 to 12 months) so I ended up purchasing something very close to what I would have spec'd out ( all walnut Woodstock NS-2 body with Jazz pickups with bolt on neck vs the neck thru I originally wanted) from a dealer who had one in stock. I couldn't be happier.

D tuner is a super easy SELF install. Some people claim to have had issues with the use of them on spectors. IT can be because the string grabs on the brass nut. A little graphite can solve that problem if you run into. I have them on 7 out of 9 of my basses. Ihighly recoomend the hipshot detuners
