ANY ideas from experience/educated guess of what's wrong with it would be appreciated. :) I threw a picture of my Coda in there to make it legit subject matter. ;) Thank you! :D

It probably has weak tubes. They're really meant to be left on at idle not on/off a lot.
The hum is most likely bad caps or cold solder joint in the power supply section or audio input - dirty connector.

No big deal, I left them a message. They got back to me, and told me they ran out of the T's in my size and it would be a few weeks till they got more. Then offered me either a work shirt or a thermal to replace the missing T, at no extra charge. I said the thermal would be fine, as I just got a work shirt.

I checked afterward, and the thermal is over twice the price of the T that I'd initially ordered. So I'm thinking, wow, now that is customer service!:hyper:

Then I get the shipping notification today, and they paid even more to ship it UPS 2nd day air! :eek:

In summation, all I have to say, is if they take this good of care of me on a $120. clothing purchase, I have zero doubt about how satisfied I'll be, when my honey and I decide we can afford that USA bolt on I'm SASing after! :D

It. Sounds. Perfect. It has a fretless quality that I've been looking for, it's a little brighter than I want but I hear that after the breakin period it'll settle up. The sound on it still cuts through the mix enough, but settles in nicely with the drums and has some nice chest-punching thump even when I'm playing on the top 3 strings. It's like a Spector bred with a P-Bass, and while I can still get some snarl out of it when I want it, it also just plays and sounds like velvet when I want it as well. I threw a little compression/limiting on it and I'm off to the freakin' races.

25 years of playing and I end up with the most unexpected combination of strings and basses to get the tone I've been dying to get to.

I'm eventually looking at installing a new Aguilar preamp, but at this point it's got less to do with tone than control.

Awesome! Glad you like them. I try not to steer you wrong.:D They are amazing strings indeed. I used their mediums for the longest time but I wanted something different/flexible and the lights do that and more snarl. :bassist: I've not looked back since. \m/ :bassist: AND they're made right here in Michigan! :)

It sounds like the power supply needs new caps. Not a big deal. Caps in an amp like that were designed to last 10-15 years. (I don't know how old that amp is). A good tech can do that quickly.

I not a tech, but I've had lots of stuff break in the last 20 years.

Yeah, I'm going to start with cleaning the pots. I'll buy some Caig Deoxit from StewMac, thanks! I'll also checkout the caps. :)

Peavey has a site and you can ask for assistance, this is a 150 watt keyboard amp with built in compression. It is solid state and shouldn't have a 'warm-up', sounds like it needs cleaned (something could have spilled and leaked inside) and a good amp tech can bring it back to life....good luck!

Yeah Lee I really do get it...I do enjoy listening to pedal effects...just at this point I really don't have a place for them in my music. Might some day and I really do appreciate everyone's postings and opinions about them, so when/if I do buy one/some ill be better informed. :) Peace brother :bassist:

Nice price! Coda's have a Passive/active switch as standard.

I'm decent at soldering, so I will just add another battery clip. Less cables. :hiding:

This sounds like it might be a possible NS2a built in Korea (they have the NS serial numbers on the plastic cover in the back), open it up and check the electronics and compare to the type on the Spector site....but....$200 is a great price if it is a neck thru bass!

Hey all wondering if anyone wanted way in on why my first ns 2000 4 weighs more than yhe one I bought yesterday. Both were made in 98. One is number 90 the new one i bought is 422. Just very strange about a 1 1/2 pound diff. Especially mear the bridge and knobs

anyone using the audere classic preamp in a euro. I've read that they are totally transparent when set flat wich I like, I want something that will not cut or boost anything but what I set the knobs for.
I was looking at the agie but then I noticed that audere and emg also include the parts to switch to 1 volume and a blend pot instead of the stock 2x vol controle wich I also want to change so now i'm conflicted and can't decide.
has anyone else had the emg preamp and thought the pot's felt kind of flimsy the pot just felt weak and loose and one of the center detents wore out very quickly so i'm not shure I want another emg pre
