Wow! :eek:Look at that maple flaming on that Forte 5! Very NICE!
How long have you owned it? Which preamp? Pickups?

Thanks man! Have it since February last year, still amazed. Serial #004 :bassist:
Regular 40DC/OBP-2 electronics, thinking about modding to 18V. But I still can not imagine how that bass is supposed to sound any better. :D

Jonas,
Never Mind. LOL. I can't count or see color today! :D
:D

Hey I also wanted to say but forgot earlier....

If you haven't seen big Jamie's band yet, come on down and do it! They put on a really good show and the material is well....IMHO....AWESOME! The singer does a great job nailing the AIC stuff which is, as I'm sure you know, a tall order.

Kill it Jamie.

Here's my recently acquired SSD NS-94 for your delectation. It's possibly my favourite shape as I like the horn shapes compared to current incarnations (please don't hurt me!)

yes, well said.

here's how I basically look at the used market on spectors. this is if you want the classic NS2 or Ns4 sound. so I'm leaving out bolt ons and extended range basses. each of these will get you the Sound to varying degrees of authenticity. once you get to an NS2 the extra money gets you fancier finishes and inlays and Woodstock made basses. I prefer the necks on the Kramer and Brooklyn basses but the quality of the new Woodstock stuff is the best ever.

if your budget is sub 500: old NS2a. you get solid maple construction, neck through, most of em have been upgraded to active EMGs. if its got EMGs, it will have the sound.

700-1100: used euro, euro lx, or NSCR. the preamp makes a difference. if you get one with a tonepump, ask if it has a trim pot. the non trim tone pump is, in my opinion, a defective design.

over 1500: used forte or NS2O or SSD era NS4. these are all American made spectors and a big step up.

over 2000: used NS2 Kramer or possibly brooklyn era.

over 2500: used Brooklyn, used Woodstock NS4

over 2800: used Woodstock NS2.

im going to add to the sub 500 club. if you want the ns-2 looking spector, then obviously the ns-2a is the route to go, but, the ns-94/5 or ns2k4/5's can get a really awesome spector tone with emg 35's or 40's and a korean haz copy, tonepump, or even a us 9v. but we know those (usa 9v) are unavailable at the moment :ninja:

So last weekend I ordered a couple of T's, a work shirt, and a sweatshirt from Spector. I got the order on Friday and it contained 1 T, the w/s, and the sweatshirt.

No big deal, I left them a message. They got back to me, and told me they ran out of the T's in my size and it would be a few weeks till they got more. Then offered me either a work shirt or a thermal to replace the missing T, at no extra charge. I said the thermal would be fine, as I just got a work shirt.

I checked afterward, and the thermal is over twice the price of the T that I'd initially ordered. So I'm thinking, wow, now that is customer service!:hyper:

Then I get the shipping notification today, and they paid even more to ship it UPS 2nd day air!

In summation, all I have to say, is if they take this good of care of me on a $120. clothing purchase, I have zero doubt about how satisfied I'll be, when my honey and I decide we can afford that USA bolt on I'm SASing after! :D

Hey all just bought this beauty 2000 4 ns. But a few things stick out. Bass feels and plays a decent amount lighter than my other NS2k4.
Anybody have any thoughts on this. Also tje pre amp looks diff than the red one. Ill post a pic was wondering if this was the original korean pre or something diff. Also I include the serial number in anotjer pic. Just kinda puzzled about the weight diff. Also one of the shafts is longer than the other 3.
