Ill play, This version of Lethal Injection is the one we just finished. It's the green dougie into my pre + sonic maximizer to my DI ( Radial JDI) to the board. No effects. My SVT is also miked and the 2 are blended.

We have about 3 others almost done ( lots of good solo bass parts in those ). I have to say after getting my white NS2A, all of the other songs are 4 tracks, DI and miked, one take with the dougie and one with the "old man" ( NS2A). Results are brutal to say the least. Never been happier, and the tone is sick!

I misused the term alloy (as did the Spector website in a way) as brass is already a copper-zinc alloy. There are many different kinds of brass with varying amounts of copper and zinc and even other metals added like nickel, tin, and manganese. I think they are referring to how they just cut down on the cost of the brass bridges by putting more zinc in with the copper since copper is so expensive these days. I think Spector is trying to be honest though in that they let you know that what they call a zinc-brass alloy (Which is still brass, is there a metallurgist out there who can correct me if I'm wrong?) is simply a lighter weight brass and therefore possesses less of the one quality that bridges need, and that's weight.

Maybe Patrick could tell us the reasoning for his use of the term zinc-brass alloy in the Spector website. I suspect that's it.

I discussed this with Patrick, on the boards, about a year ago. He too was unsure of what the "alloy" was refering to and was supposed to find out from Stuart. Don't know if he ever did.

One of the reasons that Jade became Jade was that the grain was nothing to write home about. Excellent piece of wood sonically though, wouldn't you agree?

best bass I'll ever own. my euro has a much better top on it. But Jade sounds AMAZING

When I can I'm replacing the OBP-3 in my Euro5LX with a 9v and I'll probably put the aggie in the CRFM.

All somewhat correct and incorrect if incomplete.
Early Euro4 & 5 basses still had the matte (solid brass, no "alloy") bridge. Mine is NB0508 and still has the matte bridge.

A few extremely early ones still had the previous (NSCRFM) series EMG preamp. The OBP-1 (mine came with this) took over for a short while before the first Tone Pumps came in.

All Euro LX series basses (Early 2004 to present) have the Zinc/Brass "alloy" bridge. Not sure what this "alloy" is as brass has zinc already in it.

Thanks, Phat. I've decided that we'll just go with a /really/ early Euro4.

My gut says that it's the original stain from the factory. It's possible that it was refinished at one point or another but I can't imagine anyone in their right mind painting over top of that sweet, sweet tube quilt. :scowl:

The BTS is capable enough but is destined to find a new home. I've come to really like the Aggie pre's. A prior Euro4 I had was equipped with on OBP1; the Forte 4 I just sold to jnumme was immense with its OBP2 running at 18v. Or I could just hold out for the ever-elusive US9v. First-world problems, I know.

@ Grendle; I like your setup. Blending is the ultimate in my opinion. Gives a very wide spectrum of tone.

besides I'm a sub $1200 bass player, but if someone shows up to one of my shows with a NS2 tuned C# G# C# F# and a long strap, I rock it out

There's nothing wrong with liking what you like. I like to think certain basses sometimes have their own voice. You also don't tend to flip through as many basses as some of us do Donny. I have a Warwick that I've played for 7 years, it's going nowhere. When you bond with a bass its good........you keep it.

For the last year, you couldn't convince me that a NS2 was worth the price. I played that old Kramer era one Lee has at my last show and something just clicked...........or maybe it didn't? LOL But I liked that bass enough to entertain trying to buy it.

It doesn't mean its better than certain other basses I just liked it.........I have played more current build NS2's and didn't care for them..........so who knows. Like what ya like.......

So much of our connection to these basses is on an emotional level. It's personal and VERY hard to describe.

When I bought my first Spector, Euro5LX, I never even contemplated playing a four string. Now I own a NS4CRFM too and am toying with the idea of a NS-2 maybe next year. After my NS-5XL arrives!

I hear ya Donny. I have no doubt the tone on that thing slays....just slays. My thing is that by saying its the best bass you'll ever own, have you closed down to anything else that comes down the line? Weird things can happen to our ears, style and convictions as we age young'en.

I, for one, can't wait to hear ole Jade live once you get to the East Coast!

O no, I've bought 4 Spectors since I acquired Jade. Only 2 of which are still here. I think I might be done for a bit as we are planning on some touring and all my $$$ needs to go there. bittersweet
