Late on my response here, but this sounds great Omer!
The previous owner had slapped stickers all over it, and hastily removed them before selling. It looks a lot worse up close because the paint that was under the stickers hadn't yellowed as much as the rest.

But as we've stated before, conversion won't happen until he plays an NS-2 at a full-volume rehearsal or a live show.
Then and only then will his assimilation be complete...

My current Euro4 took over as my #1 from my former USA Kramer NS2.
There is just something that made this bass my fave.
From my ears' experience listening to peoples comparison clips, it seems the Kramer NS2's are a bit "warmer" with age, and the Euro's are a bit more "modern" sounding if that makes more sense, a bit cleaner and more articulate, but with the tonal flexibility its easy to find similar sounds, they arent radically different but if you have a preference, there's no right or wrong in this case
I agree, there is no right or wrong so pull in your 6, 5 , or 4 string Euro, NS2, Korean NS2a, and your bolt together basses into the mix....heck, if Spector just made one type of bass it would get boring so find your favorite just like Donny and the rest of us did and rock on!

I've told a few people that it is all original but I keep forgetting it has had its output jack replaced at some time. Works like a champ but just wanted to clarify. I have detailed pics of all the player marks on it if you need them.

awww man! There have been SOOOO many killer Spetors on the market recently, but hearing Jamie's review of this bass in particular has really peaked my interest in the older era basses! If this was about 6 months in the future, you'd probably already have a buyer!

Phat - which pre do you have in your Euro?
My white euro has the non-trim TP, a very thick neck & sandwich body, and it is the least favorite of my four Spectors.
I think upgrading it to a trim TP could improve it quite a bit.
My plum CRFM has the EMG pre, and while it sounds great at home, it tends to sound a bit harsh & brittle in the high end when it has a few hundred watts behind it.
The plan for this one is to upgrade it with a US9V (if & when they ever become available again
), and I believe it has the potential to become my # 1 Spector with that mod. Unplugged, its solid maple body sounds remarkably similar to my US NS-2, and its neck is the slimmest, thinnest & fastest of my four Spectors. If it sounds as good as I hope after the mods, I'll probably give it a sparkle paint job.Bottom Line - I agree that a Euro or CRFM with the right tweaks has the potential to equal a US model in both tone & playability, and given the different tastes & styles (and amplification & effects preferences, etc.) of us Spector afficianados, many could prefer a Euro over a US model, simply because they do.
IMHO, Donnie's Jade & Grendle's Green Dougie are absolute tone monsters, and in their hands, their basses sound every bit as good as the US models I've heard.

Very true. I agree. So good yet different old components vs new micro circuits me thinks. I can control the distortion of my dougie with my right hand. With the old circuit, I can hit it as hard as I want and the attack is always right in the sweet spot. Found I can get that with the pump though at 18v and the j lowered just a couple of turns. Keeps the EMG's from farting at 18v.

I want to let everyone know that this would be mine had my euro sold quickly. I can honestly say that the ns2 tone had not really grabbed me. I had the pleasure of playing this bass at a gig just a little while ago and it changed my mind. There is something to be said about that in itself. The bass has some beauty marks from being loved and played, however the tone is awesome! I really wish things had fallen in line and my wife had not taken a HARD STANCE with me about more bass acquisitions before we pay for a few other things/bills....
However.....someone can buy my special DC equipped 18 v Spector pre and I will happily take this off Lee's hands......sniffle sniffle....help a brother out!
Thanks! Yeah , the mic is a beta kick mike flat to the cone edge at about 4". The DI signal is exactly what I feed to my power amp. The board hears mostly lows from the mic and the DI sounds clicky n scratchy. The DI gets all the good hi end sizzle n growl. Blended gives you everything. The new tracks have a blend of new and old Spector tone. I'm totally excited about those! Just sick!
